When no other option and you need to cut galvanized sheet of metal with angle grinder to avoid burning just cut it with additional 5-10mm and then use manual shears - it take more time but it works like a charm and its very satisfying. Best option are nibblers and then manual shears.

I made the bearing linings, i.e. the rollers, from polyamide, but their walls turned out to be too thin and over time they stretched, increased in diameter and fell off. so I made them again from steel and pressed them onto the bearings. I suggest making them from polyamide using a smaller bearing so that the roller walls are at least 8 mm thick.

I wanted to ask a question about safety! What happens if a orange strap fails? What is the probability the other strap will also breaks? (same age, stitching and wear) Can a security be built in, such as with an elevator? Did I miss that in the 3 episodes? A lot of work just to have bi-folding door. I think I would have stayed with hinged doors. Really nice job, complicated but nice door. 👍 But if those straps fail...
@mateuszturek5760
@mateuszturek5760 2 жыл бұрын
Breaking the belt is almost impossible from my point of view. One such belt has a permissible load capacity of 4000 kg, and is tested for breaking under a load of 7500 kg. There are 2 in my gate, so theoretically they burst under a load of 15,000 kg. The gate weighs over 300, and a part of the load is transferred to the upper hinges and the frame through guide rollers, the probability of breaking - negligible. Of course, endurance changes over time, but is that also the case? The belts are inside, they are not affected by weather conditions, so they practically do not age. However, I was thinking about additional security, something like a ratchet. Ps. the gate has already been tested on lane 1, and it worked just as well as on lane 2;)
@paulwassenaar8351
@paulwassenaar8351 2 жыл бұрын
@@mateuszturek5760 You're fast.😁 Thanks. I'm not worried about the belt it self. The attachment to the coils might wear out. Regular checkup (just like oiling hinges 😁) will do just fine for me. I really appreciate all the effort and skill you have put in that door. Hats off to you.👍

Ogólnie przerost formy, materiału i pracy.
@mateuszturek5760
@mateuszturek5760 2 жыл бұрын
