Im a strat guy myself,been playing them for over 40 years,ive owned a couple les pauls,they remind me of an expensive peice of furniture and i always had trouble keeping them in tune,if i pay 3 grand for a guitar i expect them to stay in tune,but i love the sound of a 59 les paul through a marshall,i will own another one someday when i have another 5 grand laying around

Les Paul with split pickup wiring and a Strat with a 5-way switch serve up the same options. Different neck joints, tone woods, scale lengths, hardware etc. and the sonic variations on the same theme are good arguments for a guitarist owning both. The Epiphone and Squire brands help $ challenged players enjoy the best of both worlds. Cheers.

The more pickups you have, the more noise that also gets picked up. A single humbucker can be better than a SSH or SSS setup. The more magnets you have, the more magnet is pulling on the strings. More isn’t always better.

60 cycle Hum created the need for a Hum canceling pick up design by placing two single coils Juxtaposed with the poles opposite north south / south north and sandwiched together it cancels out the hum , but now there are noiseless single coils Lace Sensor / EMG and you can find many HUM debuggers , line filters and feed back ferrets , Technology can not improve my playing .

Strats are better than Paul's, the fact the strings go straight across the nut to the tuning pegs is only 1 of the advantages, not to mention I've never seen a strat headstock snap off after a fall. Let's not get started on the weight or scale length.

They both have their own place..I own a fender strat and love it but am currently looking for a les paul . Even with so called "noisless "single coils on my strat it pics up so much noise lol.strars have a briliant and beautiful bright tone and theyre very versatile but the less paul has this deep rich tone that is very unique so to me neither is better its a matter of personal preference and application

I like the Les Paul special with P90s. It's a lot of guitar for the money. I played an R6 with P90s and it's the greatest guitar I've ever played. R7s are great but the R6 is king in my book. I like Fenders and PRS CEs but it's hard to beat Gibson's with P90s. We can't just own one guitar, right?

It's down to personal taste. I have two Gibson Les Paul's and several Strats, and I prefer the strats. I find ghe Strats a big more flexible but thre are times when you need a Les Paul.

Fender makes a sweet jaguar with humbukers that can split into single coils that gives it more versatility then a les paul, plus les paul headstocks are more fragile then glass. Fender strat can easily be modded to have two humbuckers. Try modding your les paul and get back to me. Not to mention les paul's give you scoliosis.

LOL the whole Fender/Gibson war - now with maths. I play both. Prefer the Strat in terms of the sounds I get, the playability of the instrument, and well... it just feels nice. Go figure it all comes down to personal #preferenc e . There is no "Better" guitar - except the one you like to play.

I can make a Strat sound like a Les Paul, and I can make a Les Paul sound close enough to the 3 base positions on a Strat, what I cant do is get the quacky out phase tone of the strat's second and forth positions on a Les Paul with out mods and even then the tone seems to be too thin. Also....Strats seem to sonically fit better in a mix over any humbucker guitar

I have both as well, the Gibson is good for it's unique sound. However the strat is not only more versatile but it's lighter And you can sit more than 10 minutes and play comfortably...lol. but I still love my les paul.

@@hegonefishing9122 The LP gives me those Skynyrd-Zeppelin chunky tones. I got lucky at 9lb 2oz. The strat is a little over 7lbs. I love the tone but regret getting a phat-strat. Still... nothing beats the thud of a Gibson. My next purchase will be a Firebird.

Humbuckers are not two pickups in one. The second coil is a bucking coil. He's correct only if the humbuckers are Dirty Fingers type, which have pole pieces in both coils. Even still, unless the LP has coil-split, it's still just pickups.

Lol, and I love teles also, but mine ended up with crazy wiring as well, more like a tele/strat! I just dig as many options as I can cram in. Two humbuckers on a three way switch to me is as basic as it can be whereas I want to go the other way. Even with kill switches, piezos etc. Lol it's all fun!
