Troubleshooting versus problem-solving. What do you see as the difference between these two different ideas? And for contrast, I’d also use the term critical thinking, as a third scenario.

To me when I hear 'trouble-shooting' I have something that I think should work, it isn't, and trying to find where the mistake is. Problem solving I don't necessarily have something implementable yet....

@@sjmiller314 I just find the differences in rhetoric interesting. Since working in CTE, I hear the term trouble shooting arise a lot more. Math and engineering, I hear the term problem solving. With public education at a primary and secondary level, I hear the term critical thinking used. I'd even have said that art degrees use the term critical thinking, the sciences use problem solving, and then trouble shooting is more vocational in nature. If I read program learning objectives for degrees in those areas, it seems like that decides the rhetoric at hand. I definitely would come to a similar conclusion on trouble shooting. It is very modularity driven. Saying what is the system is not function and then replacing it and getting it functioning again. Getting the mistake fixed. Problem Solving is a common term in engineering where you are focused on design. Not the operation, Maintenace, or installation of a system.
