Great Technical review. Absolutely agree that numbers don't lie. I have a blued Garrison in .45 that is nowhere near that loose. It has zero rattle in battery. The trigger is smooth and crisp with very minimal creep. Actually, the looks and trigger feel are why I bought it. It has however had isses with brass not ejecting. It will get stuck in the extractor and get jammed by the next round in the mag trying to feed. I finally changed the extractor and FPS with Wilson Bulletproof parts. I am using Wilson ETM mags. The problem has greatly diminished, but returned the last time I shot it. Running 8-rd mags, it is always the sixth or seventh round that jams. Sadly, this will never be a carry gun.

I think the Springers are a great platform to build on, but the one you have I wouldn't have left the store with. A lot of those things could have been seen at the counter. Every Springer I''ve bought in the last few years all has the same set of problems that needs corrected, disconnector, safety, & finish reaming (in order to shoot reloads). But I"ve never seen one loose like yours. Great channel, just found it.

I have the 45&9mm. I had issue with the 9mm. Sent back all problems solved. I have no looseness in my pistols. The slides are extremely tight. No looseness or rattling at all except a little on the grip safety.

Glad to hear everything was ok after u sent it back but Where im from its a major hassel just to send it back since its a firearm all kinds of bullshit laws and processes to go through so i'd be really upset if i ordered one of these and it got shipped to my ffl with all that rattle and wobble

So the problem is the 9mm model. Causes I have one and know several people that have the Garrison but we have them in 45 .

Don't know, haven't seen a .45. But I don't imagine they measure much better based on my prior experience with the brand.

I have a blued 9mm with the extractor/chamber issue you described. SA seems to put softer springs also which tends to highlight the issue. If you take that gun and drop a 13-14lb spring in it it will force it to feed basically masking the issue you pointed out.

All Springfield Armory 1911s are made in the USA and have been for over a decade i have a blued garrison in 45 caliber and absolutely love it i seen a stainless one also in 45 caliber i want to get it so i have the pair

I can not confirm that they have been made in the USA for over a decade because I have had them come into my shop stamped "Imbel Brazil" in the past decade that were NIB guns.

Sounds a lot like a Colt I bought new back in the 90s. The barrel had vertical travel in battery from the lower lug and link not being fitted. The slide was also poorly milled with the left flat looking like it'd been pulled from the mill before it was done. Ended up trading it for a Beretta 92. Took a loss, but ended up with a more reliable and consistent pistol.

Just picked up a new Springfield armory 1911 A1 45acp all stainless. Everything's tighter than a frog's ass. Bought a brand new Colt competition 1911 45acp all stainless last year. That thing rattled if ya just looked at it. Damn, that thing was a piece of $1,000.00 shit ! This trigger felt like it was going to fall out at any time. The grip safety was loose, very loose, and the grips would come loose just dry firing the thing. The purchase was made a few months before CZ took ownership. Very disappointing. Hope CZ gets those assholes at Colt on track.

@@Nick87899 Colt, says they believe in not have their tolerance real tight on the 1911 line. Mine was beyond that. Mine was just bad workmanship. Such a shame, let's see what CZ can do to fix thing's.

@@michaelphillips5786 i have posts in colt forum & 1911 addicts about recent colt issues, my stance on the competition models has been that the 2017-2020 models were good, but has left much to be desired post Covid, I just tripped across Mr. Chambers channel & it’s nice to see someone apply the math/measurement’s to see what we are actually dealing with in the current production 1911’s, the most consistent thing we see is lack of consistency

Just going to update you on Springfield . The Brazil connection with Springfield was Terminated in 2016 . All pistols are now made in Geneseo IL . ILS was Terminated over time in 2014 and by 2017 eliminated on all 1911's . 2015 they bought the property next to them and added all new CNC machines and production equipment over time . Oh and its pronounced GEN IS SEE U IL

Wow, my Garrison is tight, and I really never heard anyone having loose fitment...... In fact I've heard just the opposite from reviewers. Hopefully this one is a fluke.

But did those other reviewers actually take the gun apart and measure it comprehensively with precise instruments? Or did they just tell you it was tight?

I'm not going to pretend to know what the proper measurements are, and I don't know how you determine what the proper measurement should be, but all I'm experiencing personally, reading and seeing is that they seem to be tight and function very well.

You mentioned swapping out the Recoil Master to a flat wire set up. I haven’t seen anyone who sells a kit to do this, at least one that is marked that it will work in a C. Do you sell the correct parts, or possibly have a link to something that will work?

Don't know why Springfield doesn't finish ream their barrels. I purchased a 9 mm EMP Ronin. 4-in version. Throat was shorter than my gen 5. Glock 19. Ridiculous. Had to pay for a gunsmith to ream it.

I have the blued version, in .45 ACP of this model, and if anything, I'd say mine is 'too tight' but I'd rather have this situation than all that looseness.

i did not make comments on this video until i received it from local FFL and then check it myself he is right that the slide & frame is off that's why my gun sounds like that too! Sir, is there any antidote to minimize the looseness of frame & slides because its annoying.

Doubtful that gun would pass quality control at Springfield, If perhaps it did, I would return it under warranty. Also, wouldn’t you inspect the firearm before purchasing if it’s that loose. I recently purchased a Garrison and it nice and tight.

Time to take your calipers to the gun store, detail strip that thing and take the measurements before you buy it, if we all demanded this as end purchasers the manufacturers would either stop production or fix it, I’m my experience all the various and or continuous issues we see with production guns have to do with lack of consistency in QC, it is so frustrating for the new folks in our sport to run into these problems and can sour them on 1911’s. Long run manufacturers need to understand doing it right does not cost more in the long run

@@ChambersCustom thanks for replying, I know it’s a sample of one from your side, I can report on the dozen or so I’ve handled in the last 6 months have exhibited little to no rattle but when you started measuring the extractor length lack of finish reaming my 3 point jams made sense. I was about to drop in my Wilson #13 flat spring as I thought the gun was a little under spring but realized it might mask the chamber/ectractor issues

No they are made by HS Produkt in Croatia. The old Mil Specs used to be made in Brazil.

Springfield 1911's are hit and miss. They all are built to the same standards as far as I can tell. Some are dimensionally decent, some poor, across all models. They hype certain models more than others, but I'm 99.9% sure they are all pretty much the same frame, slide, barrel and parts. Just put together in different configurations, with different names for each model. My milspec was actually much tighter than several Range Officers I have handled and shot.

@@ChambersCustom yes that particular design is designed to be very snug tight slide and frame and Barrel locking fit that's the way it was designed and I'll have you know that those guns are superior to polymer wonders in the sense that they can take a hell of a lot more heavy-duty firing than any polymer job steel frame and slide can go to 100,000 rounds

What makes me an authority? Well, I have been professionally building 1911's for 17 years and have literally measured a couple thousand 1911's in that time frame. I've also built guns that have set multiple state, regional and national records in multiple disciplines. Those guns have also won hundreds of state, regional, and national matches. But you're probably right...who am I...LOL
