by definition, gamma(x) = int t^(x-1) * e^(-t) dt where integral limits are from 0 to infinity then by change of variables Bx^d = t x = (t/B)^(1/d). moreover, Bdx^(d-1) dx = dt so E(x) = int x * f(x) dx = int (t/B)^(1/d) * e^(-t) dt = 1/B^(1/d) * int t^(1/d) * e^(-t) dt = 1/B^(1/d) * gamma(1+1/d)
