Thanks again Wayne. To address some people concerns. I did the best of what we was given. This was a totally standard as it comes build . Lights leaks and some misaligned panels was inevitable with the design being totally over engineered the way it was and how some LEDs had to be routed . The model still looks impressive.

Great build. But I still don't trust the four docking latches to hold the saucer section. Is the structural integrity up to standard after connecting the saucer section to the stardrive section?

I see that it has problems with the final build, but it is still nice to see one that is finally completed and it is not just a picture of one. Even with all its flaws it still looks awesome to me. I still have yet to even start on mine. And thank you to the people who have started already, I am learning a lot from them about changes to make while building it, so the final outcome will be better.

Didn't expect more because it was Eaglemoss. My hope is that FanHome takes up the Enterprise - A or Enterprise-E large scale replica.

I’m 7 packages away on mine, but I’m excited to finish already. I’m planning to do resin windows (or at least sanding down all the ones that stick out), new escape pod hatch transfers, adding a top bridge window, recoloring the deflector and nacelles to be more accurate, and more. I also want to use some putty to fill all the light leaks across the whole ship.

It looks like a battle-damaged version with all the panels popping up...imo one of the key appeals of the Enterprise D is how smooth and organic it is; this model just doesn't do that justice.

Looking great. How did he already finish his model? And how do the docking pins stay in that position? Mine are sliding back in.

No idea. The docking pins have little plastic shunts that you push u to them to keep them up

Beautiful. It's a very ambitious to replicate the Enterprise and I think it's a beautiful model. As modellers we can enhance it and correct an issues. Thanks for sharing Matthew Thomas and Wayne.

It looks great Mat, My progression is halted right now as my led lighting isn't working and i can't work out why, i think a wire is getting pinched somewhere and shorting it out but i can't find the offending wire :(

Check the battery box. Mone was a little tempremental

or check your PCB boards, the screws are close to the solder and can short out. Happened to me on 2 of mine. I used electrical tape under the screw and it fixed the short

i've just tried your suggestions. While tearing down i thought, what if i disconnect the connection between the pcbs, then perhaps i'd at least find out which pcb might have a bad cable on it. So i did that, and some of my lights started working again. Bingo! I started to unplug lights one at a time to see if it would bring back the rest of them, if i could unplug the one cuasing the short then i could fix it. But after trying all the plugs on the 2nd PCB and 3rd PCB and it still not working, i disconnected the pcbs again but this time, no sign of life. Everything i try, fails. I'm just about ready to throw the entire bloody thing into the bin. I'd pay money for someone to diagnose and fix this.

I am almost done with the model and had your exact issue, others did to. Look carefully at the corners of each PCB and see if there is any solder from the board coming close to the metal screw. Most are fine, but some are close and maybe touching the screw, which touches the metal frame which can short it out. In areas of concern, i would try electrical tape on top and maybe bottom of the pcb board. You may be having a different issue, but if it is this it will work. If you are a Patron on Wayne's I posted about this over there like 1-2 years ago and also included a photo. One other thought...maybe you have one of your PCB jumper cables connected in the wrong plug which is causing the short? Lastly, in the event you have some other issue, the model looks awesome, even without lights. I don't think I will have the lights on much/ever once I have it on display. I don’t see any of the light bleed that so many were talking about from the eaglemoss days. Has that been resolved? And how do those docking pins actually hold the saucer in place? Am I missing something?

The docking pins are surprisingly good. The lay of the panels fo have some issues but nothing that can't be fixed

Some panels do not sit flush. But this is down to the an over engineered design and unavoidable. But if you see it in person it’s still very impressive

Some panels don’t always fit perfectly, even in the fanhome version, but it’s usually pretty easy to remedy if you have tools. Same with the light leaks, some people use electric tape, some people use model putty, some people use foil, whatever works. Still sucks that this is necessary on a model so expensive, but it can be improved a lot from this base out-of-the-box look pretty easily.

I have a question. The time between when I got package 3 and when I got package 4 was two and a half months. Is that normal? If that is a regular thing, it's going to take seven or eight years to finish.

It's not normal. There are events outside of Fanhome control that are affecting all partwork distributors at the moment

Does grills besid the bridg are not windoes, should not be lighted like the grills on the other side. Look like they couldn't disied and made one lit and the other don't.😂 I was very disaponted when they disaded to make this model. You have to spend more money for mods to make it more as the studio model.

It's a beautiful ship and model, but with the problems it has with panels not fitting flush, light leaks and how the LEDs in the Nacells show blue dots - if you have to fix a model to build it, takes the joy out of building it.

Loads of mis-aligned panels, loads of light-leaks. FanHome's paint-job less that detailed. Having seen the end-result, am glad I decided to NOT go for this. Sorry. No disrespect to Mathew Thomas, or his build, but FanHome need to do better.

Baking paper can be good. You can also get some diffusing paper from Amazon

The size makes it impressive - but there are many design problems/errors. The main being the absolutely horrible light leaks. I spend hours trying to fixing mine before giving up an cancelling (before the Eaglemoss crash). The look isn't helped by the irregular/ill-fitting panel joints. That sticker on the main saucer for the designation "USS Enterprise" looks pretty tacky as well.

It still needed the transfer paper to be removed. Matt didn't want yo do that in case it got damaged in transit

No offense, but judging how this turned out, I don't think I'll ever go back and finish mine. It's a real shame that after a good $1000 investment, this is what you ultimately get. I'll agree with the others that the organic smooth lines of the D are completely lost with this model. From the risen windows above the plane of the surfaces to the horrible-fitting sections (like the cobra neck), to the incorrectly chosen LED colors and the off-timed blinking lights. I could go on, but I think many get the gist of the experience building it currently. It's a real shame and to be honest, if I were in this person's shoes, I'd be ashamed to show it off. I suppose in retrospect, that since I stopped about a third of the way, I could go back, dismantle this beast and start over, correcting the many mistakes and perhaps turn out a half way decent model but the extra cost on top of the expense of restarting the subscription...well, I have many other important things to spend money on right now. Again, I mean no offense to the builder, nor to Wayne, who is still working on his, but suggestions have popped up along the way to correcting issues, and many of us should take note. For those who haven't even started this and have considered building one, let this be a serious FYI to consider. Sure it was fun to put together (at least for what I had to do), but even with all that I got completed, I never felt like this was a good solid build and the quality was sorely lacking, almost to the point of it being a money grab from Eaglemoss and unfortunately Fanhome has followed suit just to help alleviate the anger of the fans out there who had a half completed build with nowhere to turn.
