What a great camper it would be if converted well, especially with a Cummins 6B in there. I'm looking forward now, to Part 2.

Did I spot a Provost? 😘 as a Private Pilot paid around £100 for a 20 minute ‘Sortie’ in one back around 1999 from Sandtoft Airfield, flew into into Sandtoft in my then jointly owned T67A Firefly G-BIOW based at Sherburn in Elmet, seemed a slow trip back after flying the Jet Provost, best £100 spent in my life👍

Great video!! However, you guys must be nutts...are you intentionally trying to destroy the vehicle? It's quite interesting regardless of being radioactive. Built like a friggin' tank. The Cummins is above and beyond a better engine than the engine that was in there before. I really like the Chieftan videos. I'm looking forward to more from you guys. Regards from Alabama, USA. Bert

It rather reminds me of the Russian "Spetsbuksir" KZbin channel. They have one of these and use it as a camper. They also have several fairly new Dodge RAM pickup trucks. I have no idea how those made it to Russia.
@Ragnar85043 жыл бұрын
They're sold in Europe, anyone with enough money can buy one. And some Russians have plenty of money.
@mbak78013 жыл бұрын
All the vehicles used to deal with Chernobyl were parked up in an area near the reactor as they were too contaminated to be of any safe use. Being Eastern block scrap metal thieves rushed in and took these vehicles out and sold them on. Any thing East European needs to be thoroughly gone over with a proper geiger counter capable of detecting alpha, beta and gamma radiation. Rent one do not use a cheap ebay special. Many/most of the users of these vehicles have since died as have scrap metal dealers who sold them. I would start with the seats. If the vehicle is clean then all is good. If not then it will need to be disposed of in a safe manner (after involving the powers that be).
@latenerd24413 жыл бұрын
doubtful they'd be eradiated enugh now to warrant scrapping the entire thing although some parts may need stripping. Surprisingly alot vihecles noly needed t be stirpped f all paint and resprayed to be made safe againt as majority of radiation was captured in the paint. Thank the russians for using lead primer and paint filler.

Is Mat trying to tell us that the Soviet truck designers copied the ergonomic design practices of Pommie truck designers? I am thinking of the Austin FG, English Ford, English Dodge, Bedford TK i.e., pretty much every cab forward and cab over design until the Ergomatic*. *The Ergomatic cab destroyed Leyland’s reliability and reputation in Australia and every other hot country because … the designers made the windscreen so deep that there was no room for a proper radiator. The Ergomatic cab Leylands were the last Leyland trucks to pull Aussie road trains, due to the significant overheating issues that they reportedly suffered. When the ego overrides the brain, customers go elsewhere!
