Math your timeline is off. "I etched your name out, put Jigga on top". That's the shot. Nas was already a triple platinum artist. Vol 2 put Jay Z into super stardom. So Nas was actually responding to that and Jay Z calling himself Hova. You have to remember Biggie and Nas were on each others radar before big passed. Not JayZ. So i'd still say Jay started it. Idk why this came back up on my notifications but to help @MathHoffa out, Jay & Rocafella had issues and jealousy for Nas from the start. I was there and heard the music petty bts. I co-created The Dead Presidents track with Ski. I was in 1199 on a daily. I only learned through your show that Nas took half the publishing for DP as I was never given any credit or kept in the loop after the album was done. That was Dame & Ski MO all the way through the Blu Roc era. Thinking about it all now, it makes sense. Jay admired Nas but had an the bigger ego. He probably felt outmaneuvered by Nas and held the grudge. I used to hear all kinds “disses” when Nas would be mentioned and I’m talking circa 1996. Anyway, keep up the great work. Your lane is solidified. I can’t wait to see what’s next for us! COIN aka Mint God

In Feb 1996, JayZ sampled Nas voice without permission on Dead Presidents. Nas also knew back in 1996 JayZ was messing with his girl Carmen...thats why Nas would never do a song with JayZ. In Nov 1997, JAY-Z sampled Nas’ voice again without permission on "Rap Game/Crack Game". In 1997, Jay Z song "Where I'm From," took a shot at Nas by listing Nas last amongst the best, "Who’s the best MC’s, Biggie, Jay-Z, and Nas.” In August 1999, Memphis Bleek released a song “What You Think of That”, which sounded like Nas song "Nas Is Like". Memphis Bleek said, "I'mma ball till I fall what you think of that?" In Nov 1999, Nas responded to Memphis Bleek in “Nastradamus”, "You wanna ball till you fall? I can help you with that.” And NAS song "Come Get Me" (1999)...second verse was about Jay-Z..."you make hot songs but she know you steal from me". NAS is talking about JayZ sampling his voice twice. In Dec 2000, Memphis Bleek went at NAS in song 'My Mind Right". "Your lifestyle's written/So who you supposed to be, play your position"...and the song "Is that your chick"...which JayZ talks about sleeping with Nas baby mother Carmen. In 2001, Nas responded to Bleek and Rockafella with “Stillmatic”. “Rip the Freeway, shoot through Memphis with Money Bags/Stop in Philly, order cheesesteaks and eat Beans fast". Nas also released “Is he H to the Izzo, M to the Izzo?” dissing JayZ "Izzo (H.O.V.A.) released Aug 2001. JAY-Z performed a freestyle at Hot 97’s Summer Jam dissing Prodigy of Mobb Deep and Nas....which turned into the song "Takeover" in Sept 2001. @@joeljoseph2028 According to her 1996... Nas wouldn't do any songs with Jayz in 1996 and messing with Carmen was the reason. She said her and Jay lasted 5 years......and "is that your chick" made her mad at JayZ. Black Girl lost was also 1996...in the beginning of the song Nas has the girl saying "Where the real niggas at popping Crystal"...reference to JayZ reasonable doubt album with songs mentioning crystal...dropped 1996.

Jay been mad ever since Prodigy and Nas stood him up on reasonable doubt and he bought their vocals. This intern made BiG think Nas didn't fuck with him cause Nas hung out with chef and ghost who dissed biggie for copying nas and he also no showed Jay. Jay didn't get the shine he deserved. Jay wanted to be like Nas and and hang with him. Nas didn't see him as anyone special. Jay got mad so he started to sleep with his baby moms. @rightouskofi78612 жыл бұрын
@@traj_mahal300 I don't know if that is true since Nas always looked at jay funny. And before the beef too I saw where Jay was talking down 2pac and others artist to appeal to Nas and he thought that was corny. Also the biggest thing is Nas was gone for a minute and people were questioning his status. The Jay beef revived his hype and cemented him. Now I don't think Nas would give up the money he made during the beef. Win or lose they made alot of bank with shows and the buzz created off the tracks
