Takeover > Ether. Prior to this battle, I was a Nas fan and didnt like Jay-Z at all. But after the battle, I had to give it to Jay-Z. Takeover was 🔥. The beat, the lyrics, the insults, it was funny, had swag, great energy, and was skillful. I gotta be honest. I dont see why so many think Ether was great. Lol i grew up during this time, it was definitely not like that at all. Jay’z’ recorded Takeover first, then Nas recorded ‘Got Yourself a Gun’, which was a solid record but no match for Takeover. Then Nas returned with Ether and thats when Ether overshadowed Got Yourself A Gun and was inadvertently positioned next to Takeover. Basically, Nas made two attempts at Jay’s Takeover record in order to compete. Think about that for a moment…

Understand preferences, but i will never compare double lines, entertaining punchlines and ego tripping to the lyricism level of Nas. And Nas just dropped, recently, Magic and King's Disease sagas, with all the quality. Nas have been making entertaining and motivating songs, talking about relevant things and not using too sugar (doubles, egos, etc) to attract people. Maybe in terms of influence to the new generation and impact in global market, but not about longevity and catalog, man... Again: There's a style for every moment and i understand preferences, but no way putting Jay and Wayne above Nas. Not even right now!

Interesting. Nasir is my second favorite rapper of all time. For me, it's O'Shea Jackson and Nasir Jones. I feel like Nasir had the excitement and Shawn Carter had the sting. I felt the sting from _Takeover._ When he started disrespecting Nasir catalog, that kinda hurt me. Overall, Imma give it to Nasir. _Takeover_ kinda came and went. _Ether_ is still here.
