Jasper definitely veered right. Admitted it in the interview, but to him he was taking shortest path to finish. Bad job by race officials to have a curve like that where another disastrous crash could have happened if Wout did not back off.

My impression was, that he slightly kept moving to the right. And continued the slight right hand turn on and on unconsciously. And WVA avoids to get into trouble… and a Pogacar making fun of his anger again 😂😂😂

Yes, he strayed to the right from his sprint line. Wout had more to sprint for.

As this is an open forum and opinions are allowed, Philipsen should have been disqualified for hindering the sprint of and endangering another rider. As they were side by side, there is no doubt at least in my mind, the manoeuvre was deliberate to block off a competitor.

I agree, he strayed from his line which he opened up with 1m from the barrier and then closed out wout who clearly had to stop pedaling to not get pinched.

Guys it’s racing. All the top sprinters throw some blocks. This wasn’t a Dylan style deliberately try to kill a guy move. I don’t even like Phillipsen at all either but cmon now. I see these comments every single sprint stage by someone complaining about a guy not perfectly staying on line.

The road had a small bend to the right which allowed Jasper to keep the shortest line to the finish. The issue comes from the organization for having a sprint finish like that.

No doubt Philipsen veered into van Aert, would have crashed had he not back off. Should have been disqualified IMO.

“Gave up” because riding into a barrier isn’t worth it LOL. Jasper went from the middle to being right next to the barriers. Not sure how everyone sees it as a straight line. I wanted Jasper to win but not happy with this stage finish.
