You know I never got a chance to thank you. I had to do a maths related problem at work so I used your videos to understand it. To be clear I have hated maths most of life but actually for the first time I started to love. Of course I put in the work but I see the world differently. I wish I had had this at school. I sing your praises everywhere...

Or you could just divide the new amount by either a increase or decrease by adding the percentage change or subtracting

Legend. I was doing this with my tutor, and using this I found out where I was going wrong.(which was adding/subtracting from the percentage ._.) Thanks anyway Mr genie. I am confident that I will pass my gcses with you around :D

this is very helpful, however you do not need to divide to get 1% of the answer but you can instead: for example for the last question say £70.00 pounds in digits is 7000 : and this would be equal to 87.5 (the multiplier) then just divide them *7000/87.5* which would give you the same answer and it would work with any one of the other questions to be more time efficient in a test :))) but tysmm anyways

Brilliant. My confusion got answered in the very first ten seconds regarding adding ten percent to get the original price. Which is logical but yet the wrong way to do it 😂

how would you calculate this without a calculator
@mathsgenie7808
@mathsgenie7808 6 жыл бұрын
+Humna Ali it would depend on the question but if there had been a 20% increase and the new value is £240. You would have £240 = 120%. You could divide by 6: £40 = 20% Then multiply by 5: £200 = 100%.
