Something tells me this must have been the Smirnoff Open Tournament. After you take a piece, you take a shot!

This reminds me of Reti writing that the history of chess resembles the same progress individual players make while learning the game, just in slow motion. Before all the advances in theory, even the best players were probably still prone to the kinds of mistakes we'd only expect an above-average Internet chess player to make today.

The drinking master was Gideon Stahlberg. He was also a bridge master. Stahlberg was said to be the best combination player of all time: combining chess and booze. He turned up to play Nadjorf. Stahlberg was legless and wiped Nadjorf off the board.

This is the sloppiest game I've seen on this channel, by a lot. It's so easy to assume that a single blunder will cost you the game, but then you get flailfests like this one.

The adage good moves come from good positions. Then the reverse must be true. Bad moves are derived from bad positions. We've all been on both sides of that coin.

Imperfections are essential for a good story. That’s why we don’t like watching Stockfish playing with itself. Personally, I don’t like Carlsen’s games-they are predictable.

I agree. There was a real back and forth battle. Many chess matches on this channel you tend to see someone winning from the start.

This looks like the player with black pieces would like to give a win game for the player with with pieces. I don't know, maybe for a friendship reasons. Notice how black had a check mate chance, yet, did not execute. But, it seems that white didn't know how to win a winning position. Or perhaps the player with white pieces simply did not know the he was winning.
