What I think I like most about Agadmator Vids is the near child-like admiration he shows for the players as much as for the game itself. Even with players that probably none of us have ever heard of before, to him they were all Legends. Kudos

Korchnoi: Ten times a Candidate, four times USSR Champion, twice played Karpov for the World Championship at age 47 and 50. In the first match, he lost 6-5 after tying the match at 5-5. In the second, Korchnoi lost 6-2, playing with his son in a Soviet prison after it was thought he would be allowed to emigrate to the West the previous year. His highest FIDE Elo was 2818 in 1978, when he was almost 48 years old. Chessmetrics shows him world #1 from September to December 1965, world #2 or #3 for about fifteen years, and in the world top 20 from the early 1950’s until 1991, when was playing actively with a rating above 2650 at 70 years of age. In Jan 2007, Korchnoi was ranked number 85 in the world at age 75, the oldest player ever to be ranked in the FIDE top 100. Probably the strongest player to have never been World Champion.

11:40 that Rf3.. Stopping a check by blocking with a rook which in turns gives a discovered check but you can't give mate in one because you pinned yourself to the King.. maybe a simple move but it still amazes me how chess can give so many beautiful positions no matter if you play 10000 games or watch 1000s of games. And of course 10:53 both the black knights hanging in front of white's King like some fearless zombies ready to sacrifice themselves. I've not even reached 12 mins of video but it has already blown my mind.

I think all of the crazy lines and the fact that the pin lasted to the end until white won is just a reflection of how deadly a bishop pair from hell is, particularly when they are using their own rook to create a pin on the enemy king.
