I agree that the, typical evil mascot, has been overused trope. I hope that the balance remains between scary, charming, and endearing. I hope one way this leans toward, My Friendly Neighborhood. The also agree the mascot themes have a solid base.
@Broomer526 ай бұрын
My Friendly Neighborhood is such a good story because it’s a setting that fights back against the very concept of Mascot Horror. The Puppets want to make children happy but after they closed down and their was a collective depression from a recent war the Puppets decided to look at the tv shows the rest of the world was watching to see why people left. They were horrified and traumatized by how mean the shows were, how mean the world is some lost their minds, many became depressed and had no idea what to do. Until a group decided to fight back against the darkness and try to make people smile again. Indigo Park seems along a similar line because Rambley genuinely doesn’t know what’s happened or why everyone left, his only goal was to make people happy and now he’s all alone. His entire hope is that you can save the park from whatever is happening.

I didn't hear the buzz either. I thought it looked like Lloyd was trying to stop you from going through the door, then panicked over his own face being seen. xD I also feel like for some people, knowing there are collectables to be found will draw their attention away. When I saw the theater of seats, I to was so focused on looking for collectables in those seats that I didn't consider looking at the stage.
@SunSlayerKD6 ай бұрын
I heard it but I honestly assumed it was an unintentional audio glitch for the most part! Definitely doesn't feel like it's your own watch protecting you by doing that. As for the Theater, if it's a big issue then maybe they could have the spotlights come on row by row with the typical "spotlight on" noise, until it shines on the stage. That really leads your attention when you enter the room at least.

As a somewhat aside to this video, I think having a system where the player character writes notes based on what he sees during the game would be a good way of further engaging the player. As it is currently, it was hard for me (personally) to see that my character was upset / feeling anything throughout the game, and having a way to see into what the character is thinking would help that. Additionally, perhaps a camcorder or something? The character seems to be a urban explorer of some kind, so it would potentially fit character as well as being a way to add gimmicks in a somewhat organic way.

I think a way you can circumvent things like mat pat missing some things like lloyd on stage is to turn those things into a cutscene. Where you don't have to rely on player looking at him then, and forcing it a little. Since people will look around and people will miss lloyd specially with how nice the environment is and with the collectable hunting. Making the player entering the theater a cutscene where they look and see lloyd or making the cutscene trigger when they shine their flashlight on the stage would be the best way to minimise that. I think. Also, for the jumpscares also turn it into a cutscene so the mouse shaking when you get jumpscared doesn't make you miss him, and have the player automatically look at him when he's slithering away.

(Side note I wasn't even aware she was stalking me until I got to her area.) However, once I died for the first time during the chase sequence, it kinda broke my immersion and my brain realized I was playing a game again. Which I think is one of the reasons I don't usually play this genre of games. Once you start gamifying it, it breaks the immersion and any tension it's built up when you die and respawn. So it's a real balancing act for sure to keep up the tension without letting it become a walking simulator.

When I played, I was also confused on what happened with Lloyd. I actually thought the band shocked him and sent him back. 4:32 nice one on that Rambley’s Rush Mini-game Soundtrack! It really calls back to the later days of the Sega Genesis with Sonic 3 and Knuckles in terms of its 16 bit soundtrack while being its own unique thing. Well done! Also the end credits song is such an ear-worm! Good job all around.

A little late to suggest, but if people are still having issues realizing they can click on the collectables to hear Rambley talk about them, I suggest adding a clickable button under the player character's text about the item that says "Ask Rambley!" Or something to that effect. It would make it very obvious what to do.

I doubt that you may not read the review I left on Steam, but there's a few oversights I brought up that upon later chapters could help make the series grow even more as well as point out odd bugs even though I am not good of a critic as I hardly play new releases as is. Thank you for you and your team's contribution for such a compassion project, hopefully it can grow to an even bigger crowd

You're not giving yourself enough credit, Mason. Indigo Park, even if it's just the first chapter for now is GREAT!!!. And i'm happy to be a backer on Kickstarter. (300 dollars, not much seeing how much has been pledged in total at the moment)

Always great to see this kind of coverage! :D A couple of things that came to my mind: > I definitely think it's OK to acknowledge that for all their minor charms and fever-dream elements, the Banban games are VERY bad and your Reincarnated remake of Chapter 1 blew the original out of the water on every axis. It can be easy to give the games more credit than they deserve, which is very little, regardless of how you feel about the creators as individuals. > The collectibles need highlighting that isn't contingent on the player looking at the item, something consistent: An outline glow, a shine / sparkle effect, whatever. I've yet to actually see anyone even find the mask, for one thing. Alternatively, making it so EVERY version of a collectible can be picked up, but only the first time, so you can theoretically 'catch up' on what you missed when you're in the Critter Corner? > The UI for the information kiosk REALLY needs better labeling and clearer instructions for the incurious and unobservant: Maybe specifically marking the text sidebars as "my thoughts", and then putting little Rambley Reacts(registered) buttons under each item to show them off? > Same with the Orange Access Unlock, that needs better telegraphing and probably some audio to make people more clear. Could use an access denied callout when you try to get into the theater early, specifically saying it? Regardless of all that, Chapter 1 is extremely exciting and I am really looking forward to what's coming in the future!

1:18:48 It's possible that the orange glow gets glossed over because it glows orange when accessing the orange locks. Maybe along with making the alert tone louder, what about the watch having an animated light effect that might further clue the player in that its going into a panic mode due to Lloyd's attack? LIke a strobing red animation, something that better conveys that the cuff is sensing you're in danger and has triggered.

For the information kiosk, I don't think changing the wording in the top-left will be *enough* to make people realise they should click on the icons. I'd strongly recommend changing the UX a bit on that screen. My first instinct is to not do hover-over text, and instead let the player click the icon to get the text. Then have a button for playing the audio. Alternatively, play the audio when you click it, and then have the text show up right before he's done talking. That's more streamlined but then you need to consider the situation of people wanting to read it again, so you want to have the text show up on hover after it's unlocked. I think the smallest change you could make to improve it, besides changing the wording up top (which no-one will read because they assume they understood the UI from what happened when they hovered over the icon) would be to add a hover "play audio" tool tip on the buttons to the left. Alternatively a more obnoxious "--click icon for more--" underneath the text. If you have the budget I'd do something more like my first suggestion though. People simply don't read instructions properly, not in general, and your buttons have two separate functions. One of which is hidden and you have to know about it to figure it out, or click what is *clearly* a hover over selector. That's the real reason people miss it, they "figure it out" by hovering over the button, and then stop trying to figure it out. I've seen a streamer basically just hover over one, go "I'm not reading that" and never touched the kiosk again.

I first heard of Indigo Park a while back. I assumed that it was going to be another casual horror game, and moved on. I proceeded to see you remake of Banban video, which I was extremely impressed by how high quality it was for a game made in a week. I’ve seen plenty of developers make games in short amounts of time, but with no experience? Now THATS a developer with potential! And so I moved on. Holy sh*t. Indigo Park is FANTASTIC! It has a few flaws, sure, but you’re still new and that’s to be expected. I expect great things from you in the future, and I wish you good luck!!!

You won't say you're better than Ban Ban, but I will. You wear your inspiration and passion on your sleeve. Banban has its interesting points and there is clearly some effort in it, but it doesn't ooze affection and passion like Indigo Park does.

Hey Geese! Just wanted to give a little feedback as an observer of an observer, by that I mean from watching KZbinrs. They can be dense as heck. I watched a lot of KZbinrs that just miss the obvious, not referring to subtle details like molly stalking you or Lyoid staring at you. I'm referring to things like kiosk items being clickable and the puzzle in Mollys Landing Pad like: GUYS LOOK AT THE PUIRPLE STAR NEXT TO THE PURPLE BLOCK!!!! GUYS LOOK! it was infuriating to say the least. This is NOT YOUR FAULT at all. People are just dumb sometimes. So PLEASE do not hesitate to beat the objective over their head. Like using the objectives to restate what to do like: "Find the other icons in the playground"
@viewbuster19796 ай бұрын
I do agree that you probably have to be more direct with your story beats and puzzles to have people succeed, but dense is a little harsh. Every streamer is playing while distracted. They are playing the game while trying to be entertaining, so the game will never have their full attention.
@LauraVisionArt6 ай бұрын
@@viewbuster1979 You have a point. Streamers will have their chat and alerts to get distracted by. But Yutubers (as in not doing it live) also get distracted to some degree. Perhaps the harsh dense remark comes from all the guys who looked at the purple star next to the purple block and still didn't get it. Some extra affirmation for them would be nice. Unless your MatPat who looks everywhere except right in frount of him. You can't do anything about that.
