Yeah, we noticed that the KZbinrs somehow completely miss that the repair log is saying essentially “you won’t be using the drone in this game”. And they don’t register that they have been given a set of keys instead. Honestly, you did your best communicating that path, considering that you had a goal of completing the game in a single week, learning the programming from scratch and placing/animating the assets yourself. It’s ok that a physical lock on the door was omitted, that time was probably exchanged for polishing a scene. Keep this in mind: Amnesia had worse environmental communication. Overall, your game is great (phenomenal!) for your experience level.

I think the reason people see a shween shape in your version of Opila is that the actual pelvic gap that creatures like combusken has isn't has pronounced with Opila. Especially with her standing at that dynamic angle with one-hip-up. Good figure drawing work. It has a sense of weight that it needs for the stance she's striking.

Kinda reminds me of Mommy Long Legs' purpose in Poppy Playtime before she went psycho as well. However, it may also be Matpat actually being downbad to a bird redesigned similar to a Pokemon. perhaps you should implement a prompt asking if people want to turn on "matpat-mode" after they die a couple times in the maze. probably shouldn't call it that since that'd a bit targeted, but basically it would add an insane amount of hand-holding. perhaps if they continue dying you can make it progressively easier, to the point where you start to block off the incorrect paths, or even take out opila altogether. anyhow, keep up the great work, man! i can't wait to see where your journey into game design takes you, it's been quite promising so far. i'm especially looking forward to your original project(s, hopefully) wherein you'll have more freedom to express your own worldbuilding and artistic vision, rather than that of the euphoric bros'.

It takes many weeks for one to learn how to code a TWO dimensional game (I know this because when I went to a coding camp/class once, the instructor/ told me and my class/group that it took him 4 weeks to learn to code [and don't tell me he had less free time on his hands because he's a teacher and has to teach classes and grade homework, this was during the summer]). It should realistically take a day to design each monster with that quality, this includes the model, coloring it, ai and animations (I know this from experience [I am also an amateur game developer]). It should take a few days to design all the complex mechanics (The drone, the flashlight, unlocking doors, picking up the eggs, the elevator, etc.) (I know this from experience). It should take a day or two to design each room, depending on its size and detail (I know this from experience). Brainstorming should take a day (deciding what you want to focus on, drawing sketches of the monsters, deciding what mechanics to add, etc.) (I know this from experience). So, UniqueGeese is lying on one or more of the following: 1) His experience as a game developer, 2) The amount of time it took for him to make the game and/or 3) The number of people who worked on it.

This was awesome for a first chapter. That raccoon is just the sweetest thing ever and every bit of voice acting was incredible well done. Compared to alot of other titles in the genre this felt refreshing in alot of ways. Intruducing potential villains or allies in a cardboard story was also pretty cool. I hope we see more of this.

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, I think the reason the notes on the ground were hard to read was because he's playing on a tv screen at a higher resolution. For most games .pngs don't scale with resolution. It would be best to upscale the notes for anyone playing at a higher res.

THIS right here. the first time i tried to run my game on a lower spec system it absolutely tanked in performance mainly due to being inexperienced with optimisation. I have an idea for chapter 3 reincarnated (if you actually do that) It would have been cool if sheriff did a chase sequence during the light hopping mini game, like he would be hopping towards you and you can only jump on one specific color light/tile instead of having to just jump on some lights that you can’t actually miss(i think it would be better if it was a disco floor) for round 2 the tiles change color after a second or two(if you jump or stand on the wrong color sheriff rushes you killing you instantly) also would’ve been cool if you could only find 9/10 criminals and sheriff would start chasing you saying something like “looks like a criminal hasn’t been jailed!” (Because your an adult and not supposed to be there) also would be cool if you had a progress bar and it changes from 9/10 to 10/10 criminals caught when ever sheriff kills you(its a minor detail and would only be noticeable if you were looking at the progress bar when sheriff kills you)

Everyone's biggest critique is themself. Thats the sign of a person who's good in their field. And someone who should continue in that field. Someone who's confident that everything about a project they participated in is 100% perfect in every way and everyone else is wrong, is someone who doesn't belong in the field or needs a reality check (likely both). But if u can look at a bit of completed work, call it a piece of shit, and work on more stuff in the same field using the knowledge from the previous work, u should stay in that field. Artists r those most known for being devestatingly critical of their own work n game design is just a more technical form of art. But even the harshest critique should remember not to forget the feedback they get. Even if they think their work is shit, u gotta take the good feedback as well. Its not just an ego boost thing. Knowing what u got right is one of the hardest things to discern. As a writing, ik this point of view very well. I've been writing since i was in middle school n if any of my middle school writing ever saw the light of day under my name, i'd disappear into the woods never to be seen again.

I would've love to see more of this game if the developers didn't want you to take it down, but I do understand why though.
