Can we use something else than the pipe command with the jali command? Like if i want my jali design to be a flat surface with some thickness?

Yea, actually you could offset and split the surface or for that matter add profiles to it to make up all kind of surfaces. Even do a surface blend on it if it's set up correctly.

Not really, they need to be a .pat file. That website you are able to draw them out and save them in a .pat format.

hello please could you advise how to boolean a jali to surface it always seems to fail..
@donsjewelrymakingandjapantrave Жыл бұрын
Will do. Did you try ungrouping the Jali first. Sometimes grouped items will not Boolean but after you in ungroup them it isn’t a problem. But I’ll add content demonstrating it. Thanks for the suggestion Appreciate the suggestion.

@@donsjewelrymakingandjapantrave hello, many thanks for reply... yes we tried ungrouping we tried over and over they still will not boolean together.. was not sure whether maybe there are some hidden duplicates or a special procedure to clean beforehand.. not much tutorial content on jali also, i.e. to the finished water tight mesh so would definitely appreciate demonstration.. thanks again

I just took a look at it. I will post something soon for you to look at. If you don't want to Boolean all the items one by one you can just select the whole thing once you are finished and do a mesh repair this is probably the easiest. But if you want to do them in nurbs or poloysurface first ungroup and when you come to one that is not Boolean with the others it is because they are sharing a common plane so you just need to pick one and bump it up or in any direction .01mm which will not be noticeable really and then it will work.

@@donsjewelrymakingandjapantrave ok many thanks, we tried doing mesh repair once un-grouped and all selected though the mesh repair would not allow selection.. we also tried like you mentioned doing them one by one oddly enough we managed to take a very small segment from the over 1000 parts and managed to boolean around 3 parts with much difficulty.. and exactly as mentioned again we moved the stubborn part that would not connect around 0.01mm and this then also accepted boolean to the other parts...must be definitely a problem with alignment of the parts.. not sure it will be practical to follow this for over a 1000 part ... we tried exporting to blender and again boolean fails.. we have almost given up :)
