My 5th video demonstrating Matrixbrute in split mode, using excerpts from Tangerine Dream group & solo albums. Sounds on the right side of the split are morphed using MW and expression pedal controls, demonstrating more sounds than are apparent with a monosynth. All sounds are from Matrixbrute, performed and recorded in real time. Avalanche Run reverb and delay added on some excerpts.

You can download the sequence and patch programs for free from the Arturia Matrixbrute FaceBook user's group. I talked with Chris Franke in 2006 when he visited the Analoguehaven synth booth at NAMM.

WEDREAM2, can you make a more videos doing the full soundtrack albums in the 80's of tangerine dream all the songs on RISKY BUSINESS, FLASHPOINT, HEARTBRAKERS, LEGEND, NEAR DARK, SHY PEOPLE, SORCERER etc. I have seen your other videos just only doing parts of the soundtracks, but doing the whole soundtrack for each movie sound be great learning tool to watch you play these soundtrack songs.
@wedream2
@wedream2 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't been doing "covers," just using songs to illustrate what the MB can do. I'm mainly trying to work out the sequences and the leads for each piece. Sorcerer was fairly simple compared to later, more complex TD songs. I don't have albums of any of the titles you mentioned (other than Sorcerer). I don't recall Risky Business having any additional TD songs other than "Love on a Real Train," "The Dream is always the same," and the very beginning of Tangram. I actually have not heard "Heartbrakers," "Near Dark," or "Shy People." I'll have to check those out. I'll consider doing more, especially now since the MB just got a serious firmware upgrade.

@@wedream2 Risky Business also had a remix of Exit called “No Future (Get Off the Babysitter)”, an excerpt from Force Majeure (“Lana”), and the music from the pursuit sequence (“Guido the Killer Pimp”, starts as an excerpt from Cloudburst Flight but then evolves into something slightly more in the style of Dr. Destructo). One of my favorites soundtracks by TD is Firestarter, it has some nice sequences too (e.g. in “Charly the Kid”).
@wedream2
@wedream2 4 жыл бұрын
@@TangerineTux Thanks for the info. I forgot about Lana, and had heard the Cloudburst Flight motif from Guido before. Didn't know about No Future. Nice sequence in Charly the Kid. More TD trivia: the 3-track sequence in Sunset Drive from the Wavelength soundtrack is identical to that in Remote Viewing from the Exit album except for an added 4th sequence track . The leads are completely different. The bass melody in Running out of Time from the Miracle Mile soundtrack is almost identical to the lead in Love on a Real Train. My favorite TD soundtrack is Sorcerer--dark, sinister, minimalist.

Hi. Great work! I’m wondering how you manage to play along with a sequence but still get the use of the full keyboard?
@wedream2
@wedream2 4 жыл бұрын
If the sequence isn't transposed from the keyboard than only the lowest key is assigned to the left side of the split. If the sequence is transposed, then the split is assigned to the highest key of the transposition. In either case, the majority of the keyboard for leads is on the upper part of the split.

@@wedream2 Ditto on Logos and Song part 1. And the passage you did from White Eagle. 'Thief' got me into TD because I heard 'Confrontation' on college radio, which was actually Craig Safan. So the Thief soundtrack got me into both Tangerine Dream and playing guitar. People don't speak much of Edgar's guitar abilities and some just plain felt it did not belong in their music. I loved his playing and tone. Although a pioneer of electronic music, always on the cutting edge of technology, I always loved h I s guitar playing. Don't even get me started on Christopher Franke.....

@@HalfDeadGeezers Froese's guitar playing was perfect for the TD music, just as Gilmore's was for Pink Floyd. When I was demo'ing the MacBeth M5 synthesizer at the Analoguehaven booth at NAMM in 2006, Chris Franke showed up. We had an interesting chat.

Oh Dear! Why are all modern/new synth players hell bent on joined up continuous keyboard work when TD NEVER were - that was their beauty. As a synth player - your job is to make your keys work sound wonderful WITHOUT the sequencers. Try wowing us with something just with your hands.
@wedream2
@wedream2 3 жыл бұрын
For one thing, I'm just one person to TD's 3. And more importantly, I'm a sound designer, not a musician. I couldn't play a sequence in time if I wanted to. I'm demonstrating my sounds in split mode. I suck at playing the keyboard.
@bigjimtanguk7525
@bigjimtanguk7525 3 жыл бұрын
@@wedream2 Hi - I appreciate your reply, It's just that as a listener of EM for almost 60 years, I find that lots of modern players have a tendency of using continuing chordwork instead of short bursts - which TD KS KWerk Jarre Kitaro used. TD's Chronzon being a typical example. I also see the likes of Jon Lord P Moraz et who had such keyboard majesty - they were just amazing to watch - more recently - Rachel Flowers. Just Wow! It's just that I find it so disheartening that we do not see keyboard skills like that with fine sequence dexterity in today's synth output. Plus, the loss of the solo keyboard is rare now - one of the finest of this is Kitaro - how that guy can use one note - one key to amaze us is just awesome. How come we do not see that today. Me - I am an analogue man and think that digital has robbed synth players of so many skills and tasks. One of my fave opening from a solo artiste has to be Drunken Mozart in The Desert...of how it just flows. And the other - by contrast - is 'A Classical move' by KS - what amazing entrances. Look - good luck with your continued soundscaping and I will look in again some day. Stay safe - keep it synth.
@wedream2
@wedream2 3 жыл бұрын
@@bigjimtanguk7525 I envy keyboard skill. You're right, Rachel Flowers is amazing. Since I just don't have that kind of talent, I focus on what I can do--creative sound design. Thanks for your response.
