Hey Matt, there is a channel called ZNA productions or Zanny productions, who made a $30 body armor that held up against 7.62 and 5.56. If you wanted to train with real plates you can make them.

I have a similar vest made by Rothco. Though I haven't done anything quite as rigorous with it as you have, I have worn it with two ballistic plates in it all day as part of a G.I. Joe cosplay with absolutely no problems. I even laughed at the stormtroopers who complained about the weight of their armor which weighed about as much as one plate in my vest

That padding on the inside was the reason why i sold my Lindnerhof Balmung Vest. Now wearing an US RBAV which i had to import and get from the customs here in germany. Was fun to explain why i bought a Plate Carrier.
@Zach_Bloomquist5 жыл бұрын
I had an earlier version of this carrier and got rid of it. I found that the front of the vest would frequently smack me in the neck when going prone or trying to shoot around cover. Its heavy when wet in the rain and it didn't really feel comfortable. Also it didn't have the best buttstock interface when shooting. I switched to a US company, AWSINC, whose carrier is lighter and much more comfortable with a better cut when carrying rifle plates.

OD Green? My favorite color too. I'm old school, I've always called the flak jackets. There is a company called Tactical Tailor (interesting story how the company got started) that makes plate carriers. They will sell you the vests but not the plates unless you're military or law enforcement. Possible to do a review on them? Thanks for the video.

So my question is, how does it compare to an Osprey IV rig
@KG-yu7el4 жыл бұрын
I feel like this would be too bulky to wear over the issued frag vest, and as such a chest rig would be a better fit. Condor is an okay brand, but I'd never use it overseas. I'd lean towards Warrior Assault Systems, Crye Precision, etc.

@kylebrodie58605 жыл бұрын
Short answer - it depends. As far as I know, although I'm new, the military provides everything you need. But boots, socks, and tac glasses you can use your own after you're trained, within reason. Not sure about a tac vest or plate carrier, but I bet no.

Wouldn't recommend a weighted vest of any sort when training except push/pull exercises. Our base commander even prohibited wearing plate carriers while running in the mornings because it doesn't actually do anything but ruin your joints and change your gait. Also Condor is seen as the bottom of the barrel. Put down 75 more USD and get an American made plate carrier instead of a Chinese import.

But why spend the money on a Gucci plate if all you're going to use it for is training? For costuming, airsofting/paintballing, training something like a Condor plate carrier, or any other generic Made in China is plenty good enough since your life isn't depending on it not breaking and it's a fraction of the cost of a high end version of it.

Canada where even being in the military you can't own gear everyday people in America have... You seriously say, "if you're having a panic attack"? Time for a medical discharge...
@footbalr0745 жыл бұрын
I mean even in the states, owning gear while in the military often times more restrictive than civilian. Can't legally own and keep guns in barracks or even in a private house on base.
