Regarding the name GOKARNA; according to folklore the area now called KERALA was formed from the sea. In a fit of rage Parasurama threw his axe into the sea. The place where the axe fell into the water is Gokarna and the land mass appeared from the sea that stretched up to Kanyakumari. evan Kanyakumari was part of Kerala but was allocated to Tamilnadu during the states reorganisation in 1956. The name MATSYAGANDHA meaning: "matsya'=Fish. "gandha'" = smell.

I think the term in Sanskrit (which is the oldest language in the world and india) is Matsya (fish) - Gaandh (smell.scent). Gandha is bad in Hindi but different term from Sanskrit. English term should be Matsyaghaandh (not ....gandhaaa) The scenery on this route is gorgeous !!
