The series is being taped months in advanced, which means that the Bachelor (in this case Matt) already had made his choice before the show started to air. Because they don't want the public to know how it ends while the show is being aired, Matt and Chelsie were forced to hide their relationship, just like all the Bachelors and Bachelorettes have done before them. However, the TV-company is obligated to make sure that the couples can have secret meetings during those months (especially if it's a happy ending!)

I’m glad he chose Chelsea. She was much more mature and a good girl. The biggest common factor was their devotion to science and their own chemistry. I’m so happy for both of them.
