Matt Bomer's vulnerability is captivating. His ability to convey 35 years of heartbreak is a testament to his incredible range as an actor.

It’s criminal that it was not nominated as best limited series.

@mauramac3474 what does ignoramus mean? Like I'm a kind of dinosaur strong and feisty. ? Gee thanks what a nice thing to say to me. People nowadays are so angry and deranged nice to meet a sweet little soul like you.

This was one of the few times that the screen version was better than the book.

I agree. Thomas Mallon's novel is a fine piece of work, meticulously researched, but Ron Nyswaner's 8-hour screen adaptation expands and enriches the narrative and the characters -- and adds many new ones -- in countless ways. A great achievement in every department: writing, directing, acting, design, cinematography, music... And all of this accomplished in a "popular entertainment" format and context. Heartwrenching and uplifting and not to be missed!

@@treesnyrealy glad Ron included mary and Caroline’s story cos I believe they wasn’t in the book, also expanding on the story with Marcus

@@brenda-jh3oh Yes, the Mary-Caroline story, though relatively brief, is incredibly heartwrenching. And in fact the entire Marcus-Frankie storyline is new and very welcome for lots of reasons. And Lucy, who's a background figure in the novel, emerges as a real person. And the addition of Lucy and Hawk's son Jackson -- in the novel I believe they only have a daughter -- adds so much to the story of Hawk's life.

@@treesny it certainly does. Frankie was Marcus boyfriend couldn’t remember his name sorry.

The show showed Love in a very profound, mature way. And if you watch this show with a certain life experience then it just let you feel all the stages of Love. When you see someone special for the first time, the crush, the flirting, kissing for the first time.. the doubts, the frustration with the circumstances, when you want to be together but cant. Then comes the big parts like the decisions between your love for this person or your own self respect. Where you have to walk away even when you want nothing but be with this one person. But you know its not good for you. This show let one feel every moment of longing and heart break.
