The emotion is real, raw, and still beautiful. He betrayed his 'brother' in the worst way any man could betray his friend.

Also I need to say Matt is a virtuoso. He has said he can see whole orchestral arrangements in his head at once. He has made an album by himself. Doing all singing, backgrounds, drums, guitar, keys, all of it except one element I can't remember, percussion maybe. Such a talent and artist who is so underrated.

we are so lucky in australia, we have original artists that are so talent everywhere. matt corby is a current australian icon honestly. so underrated worldwide but definitely appreciated by the aussies. if seen him live plenty of times and this performance isn’t even the start of his vocal capabilities, it’s actually insane, inhuman talent. i hope you listen to move songs of his!

Matt Corby really is the kind of textures. I really appreciate his thought process and the genuine emotion he invokes. He was in Australian Idol when he was 16 and you could tell then he had an amazing talent, but sadly they (judges and media) only ever focused on his looks and you could see it made him uncomfortable and it diminished his talent. He went quiet for a while after that and I wonder if that is the reason why. Thanks for reacting to him and helping show people why he one of the worlds most underrated talents.

So happy you could appreciate this performance (as gut wrenching as it is!) and give it such a detailed reaction. Thank you for always being so open to new artists and providing another outlet for others to hear music they mightn't otherwise be exposed to. Hope you enjoy more of Matt's music when you have a chance. PS When you do listen to 5SOS actual speaking voices you'll note they're not overtly Australian as they've lived in the US for a while now. Apparently they found it easier to adopt the American accent so people could understand them better. Although every now and then the Aussie accent comes out in certain words or when they use our slang.

At age 16, Matt Corby auditioned for the 5th season of Australian Idol in 2007 where he finished as runner-up! I'm in Texas, USA and I'm probably one of the few Americans that actually got to see Australian Idol, I always downloaded the episodes with Bit-Torrent at the time. I loved the show and I really liked Matt a lot, he was my favorite and what a talent. I'm really glad he's still around and in the business doing what he does best, thanks for posting this video, a very pleasant surprise indeed! You should check out Matt singing Damien Rice's "The Blower's Daughter" from Acoustic Night on Australian Idol Season 5, 2007. He's just 16 singing this and he is just simply amazing. I was fortunate enough to catch Matt right after Idol basically every week at The Cove playing as the house band. I always wondered growing up listening to Jeff Buckley what it would have been like to be there live at Sin é watching Jeff Buckley before he blew up.
