Matt Corby is an Australian national treasure, one of our greatest thats for sure. He plays multiple instruments, he was on our Australian idol when he was young. The song brother was actually about a time where he slept with his best friends girl. So definitely a sore spot for him hence all the emotion. You should definitely check out . It's definitely an emotional song. He's singing about sleeping with his best friend's girlfriend, and the shame that came with it and his remorse. His friend was his 'brother', and Matt was found 'under the covers, with no one else to blame'.

Actually there's no proof this is true just one article claiming that's what the song is about. Matt has actually come out and said it's about him struggling to cope with the loss of a friendship from someone he considered a brother. And it was just a argument he's never said he slept with his mates girlfriend

Aussie here. It’s such a joy to watch someone else go through the gift that is discovering Matt Corby for the first time. He is just incredible. He won an ARIA for this song before he even had an album. Australia went bananas for this track in 2011. As to what he’s doing- he dropped another album in 2018.

You should listen to some Savage Garden. They're Aussie & did some great pop music. Huge back in early 00s even charted in the USA. The duo isn't a thing anymore but those songs were killer. I had the privilege of seeing Matt live....and OH MY GOD there are no words to describe the spiritually visceral, emotionally artistic, soul awakening experience that he gifted the venue that night. Other than applause, there wasn’t a sound while he was talking and singing, you could hear a pin drop. It was absolutely magical. I’ve seen plenty of live music in the past, some huge acts and some small, all different genres and venues.....and to this day....Matt Corby is the ultimate performer of raw genuine musicality and powerful storytelling. 🇦🇺💯🙏

Just shows how much music and talent America is missing out from other countries. There's some amazing talent in Australia, New Zealand, England & more that America don't know bc the industry mainly care about US artists. It's very hard to get success in the US. Australia got a bit of success in the 80s with rock music with AC/DC, INXS & more but not too much pop so guess it depends on demographic & all that too.

I met Matt Corby after his gig at Somerset House in 2013 in London and OH MY… I can confirm that not only is he one of the greatest artists that’s currently gracing us with his presence on planet earth, but he’s also the sweetest, most endearing, and beautiful soul with his kindness and patience in his shy and reserved manner. He’s so god damn awesome and next level that even back then in those early days when I first discovered the miracle that is his existence, I knew that there was something spiritual happening when he just rips open his soul.
