@@jaymoar3561 doesn't matter. Toyota has known metallurgical problems with the Tacoma frames. The metal rusts from the inside out. I'm just giving you a hard time because you are broadcasting being a flamboyant Tacoma fanboi. I work with one guy who drives a 1984 Ford ranger and know plenty of people who drive 70s and 80s Ford, Chevy and Dodge pickups, in the rust belt. Any truck can be made to last mechanically, anywhere, if it's maintained properly but a Tacoma will undoubtedly be reframed by a dealership at some point because Toyota knows that they had an issue.

The term pickup truck originated when you could buy a small flatbed to put on the back of your Ford model T. You would order the it and collect or 'pick up' the kit from the train station. So it's a truck kit you pick up, as opposed to a truck that picks things up.

That vintage of Toyota during that era of automotive history is qualitatively the best bit of mechanical engineering that humans have ever managed to pull off. @@jeffg2217 Well, I know theoretically you can, but phones are not built for it anymore and you can't really do it yourself. The last phone I had with a replaceable battery is almost 10 years ago. I know you can go to repair shops and they will do it, but it can be problematic if your phone is waterproof or your screen is cracked. I also had the experience of having my screen replaced and my screen then separated itself from the rest, just hanging onto it, the same day I received the device back. Great stuff! Also, not sure about prices now, but due to the required work, it seems it can be rather expensive (> $100), so in some cases you might be better off buying a new phone. So, to me a phone is normally done if the battery is not reliable anymore let's say. But maybe I should give it a chance once. Not sure if with the current phone though, because it has a crack in the screen, even if not visible much - would need to inform myself regarding that. Also, actually only know of one person who replaced his battery, but well, most people seem to buy new phones rather often anyways..

Bale is one of those few actors who isn't in it for the money or fame- he legitimately cares about the art form. It's the whole reason why he practices method acting and goes through extreme physical transformations for roles.

I already had massive respect for Bale, but it increased even further after watching this. My dad had a ‘99 v4 Tacoma. That little truck could outlast anything without issues. For many years, he took us to school in it before going to work. When we moved states, he sold it to our local priest at a heavy discount when it was nearly 300k miles and still running strong. We visited him years ago and now a family member of the priest was driving it, still without issues. That little truck has many stories, as I’m sure is the same for all older Tacomas. Thank you Christian for not only having great taste in vehicles, but also allowing me to reminisce about my own memories with our Tacoma.

I bought a used 2002 Tacoma PreRunner in 2007. It was a 2 door regular cab which is nearly impossible to find today. I had it until January 2013 when I hit a patch of ice on the way to work in Phoenix. Not expecting ice on the roadway in Phoenix, I froze up when I started to slide out of control into incoming traffic. I couldn't figure out what was happening until I realized there was a vehicle coming at me and I had crossed the double yellow line. I totalled that truck and broke my hip in the process, ending up in the hospital and not being able to walk for 4 months. My biggest regret about that is the loss of that truck to this day. I bought it with 175,000 miles on it and it ran like new. It had over a quarter of a million miles on it when it was destroyed and still ran like new up until that point. It brought a tear to my eye when I wrecked it. I'll never have another like it 😢

We rescued a wrecked motorcycle rider on the White Rim trail 45 miles in - a five hour drive, at the very least, from the nearest pavement. I used my Garmin InReach to communicate with the NPS and then a private wrecker company that would come get the motorcycle. Six or seven hours later, a guy jumps out of 2003 Tacoma, cigarette in his mouth, and says, "Where's the motorcycle?" I thought, that should be a Toyota ad. Never underestimate a Taco.

Top Gear did a couple of episodes on the durability of a late 90's Tacoma. Drove it into an ocean, set it on fire, put it on top of a tower set for demolition, etc. Only maintenance it needed was changing out wires that melted. Kept starting up. Had one for 20 plus years and when I got a second car, I got knocks on the door once to twice a month asking if I wanted to sale my Tacoma for cash. Designed by the Japanese and made in America for Americans in mind. Was a great combination at the time.
