you've never seen them live, the guy is a machine. He plays songs over 200 bpm for an hour and plays hit for hit, always on time. when they played the live show for their Home dvd he did it for 2 hours. I can barely play his song Meddler one time and he plays songs even more difficult for an hour.

Yeah he was a pretty good carpenter too. His review on Yelp was pretty shitty though, a lot of people said he got distracted ranting about being the Savior of the human race or something like that I dunno.

I loved the sound of the drums on the Messengers album. The first song I heard from them and video I saw was Composure, which is my favorite song of all of theirs still till this day. I have to say I think they altered the sound of the drums a bit after that album.....listen to the drum recording of Composure on that album and then listen to Empire for example. But either way all of their albums are great!
@weinerschnitzelsrule5 жыл бұрын
His china on messengers is seriously the best that he has ever recorded w at the least, I'm sure he played it live too but to me, that's one of the main things that sticks out to me drum wise on this album. The sound gives me a semi just hearing it hahaha

Back when I took up the drums at 13, I didn’t like going through my rudiment books because I it was too slow. So I started listening to music that challenged me with the drums, and obviously I found metal bands. One of the best ways I learned four-way independence and speed control was from groups like August Burns red. So thank you sir, I wouldn’t be half the drummer I am today without you :-)

best metal drummer in the world. and he doesn't use fake drum trigger sounds! see that, kids? that's what a bass and snare drum actually sound like!
@jgardj89727 жыл бұрын
most of the drummers doesn't use drum triggers ;)
@TunnelJumper7 жыл бұрын
Meh.. Though it was probably minimal, I'm certain they blended some samples with the live drums on that album. I've seen them live a bunch of times since Constellations dropped and he gets tighter and tighter (he fucking stomps the 16th kick notes and nearly sounds like he's rimshotting every hit when he does blast beats live. Mics only) but honestly most records have samples blended in for volume consistency.

The Neandethal it's actually really good posture
@jakegreene43136 жыл бұрын
Adam Nickersonvlls Just because he’s playing from his wrist does not mean he is loose and comfortable. There are more aspects to technique than where you play from

@utubedestroysmytime8 жыл бұрын
ive seen you comment a lot of videos and a lot of what you say is negative. a guitar player played a cool solo and you still went and said some bull shit like "if you practiced 5 hours a day for a year youd be able to play it" thats 1825 hours of practice lol just showing theres no such thing as a virtuoso just people who work. this is not intermediate skill level drumming...intermediate is the red jump suit aparatus shit you like and the travbis orbin bull shit. if its not jazz like antonio sanchez or a black gospel chops drummer...its all intermediate then
@matthewsinist3r8 жыл бұрын
+utubedestroysmytime but it's the truth lol. Matt Griener is a clean drummer no doubt but this is not advanced drumming. It's definitely intermediate level.

Wow. I think being a metal drummer is probably the hardest feat to accomplish in music. As a guitarist, all I do is move my hands around a bit and make funny shapes with my fingers and jerk around like an autistic kid having a seizure along with the music. Drummers have to use their entire bodies to play 😂
@kernelxsanders3 жыл бұрын
Metal drums has nothing on jazz drums
@LS1Highwind3 жыл бұрын
Forget being the bass player. We're there for the free admission 🤣🤣🤣
@Thomohawk213 жыл бұрын
@@kernelxsanders that’s not entirely true. Metal came from jazz and technically speaking, there are a lot of things that drummers from both camps can’t do in the other. They are both respectable.
@kernelxsanders3 жыл бұрын
@@Thomohawk21 they both are respectable indeed, however generally speaking, the main skill jazz drummers tend to lack is fast double bass runs, while metal drummers tend to lack is dynamic feel, among other things, which is much harder to obtain

...why? They're some of the best next to the k hybrid series.
@qhaven33147 жыл бұрын
they sound like any other cheap cymbal, there's no personality to them at all, no grit, tone, no nothing, they suck
@nathandrums07 жыл бұрын
+qHaven they're bright, shimmering and quick decay... They have plenty of tone lol why don't you actually play some and you'll see. What are you a Sabian fanboy? To call them "cheap cymbals" is absurd.
@nathandrums07 жыл бұрын
+qHaven 'they sound like any other cheap cymbal" compare that to a ZBT/ZHT or Sabian B8 it sounds nothing like it. What's next you're gonna tell me a K hybrid sounds like a paiste RUDE? Hahaha
@qhaven33147 жыл бұрын
yeah they're bright, and sound like you're hitting a piece of tin at the same time, I play Meinl Byzance, you know....the ones that have grit, tone, personality, and earthiness? A Customs to me are garbage, they may be high end but they truly sound cheap
