Yea Matt was telling me that Blake Richardson from BTBAm encouraged him to work on his chops and he gives blake credit for that. Blake is a great guy too. Both drummers are fantastic

a lot of drummers you will see lead with their left foot sometimes in order to stengthen it but very challenging to do... travis orbin uses his left foot a lot to strengthen it

@doublebassadventure Keep in mind too, more arm work instead of wrist is also showmanship, to make it look more intense for the crowd. Wrists will always make you faster though in the end, and will NOT wear you out at all compared to using your arms instead.

@doublebassadventure haha yeah i'd like to see it actually. That was summer of '08. Our drummer is now arguably the best in our scene. (yes, matt is a huge influence) I don't play guitar anymore. Neither does our old guitar player. He plays bass now, and I'm just doing vocals. We've got two new guitar players. Our drummer is almost 17, heh. Last year, we placed 3rd at nationals. We had the same crappy members. We're probably 999 times better than we were in the summer of '08.

Hopefully this extinguishes some of the arguments but I have spoken with Jason Costa from ATR and upon asking about blast techniques his comment was; "Never use your arms only, you will get tendonitis. My recommendation is the moler technique." Now I know we are talking about Matts drumming all together but in any case. Matt does use his wrists. Very little. But he does use them.
