Honestly, his parents planted seeds of fear in him due to their failed relationship. And although many people are upset with the producers showing these segments, I kind of thank this show for showing the real and rawness of these conversations because it happens to people and it's real life.

Love is inevitable and past trauma where people didn’t know how to love you shouldn’t be other people’s burden or problem. I feel bad that this is the POV his mother puts out. I feel like Matt should have went with his heart and realize his moms history isn’t his history or way of life. Praying that Matt breaks generational chains and learn that our parents traumas aren’t a reflection of who we are.

Yes he’s a bit weird for sure but I’d hesitated to make too many assumptions. We don’t know why people are the way they are or do what they do or more importantly, what goes on in their thinking. Having said that, we can and do see the actions of participants on the show and I often question what the hell were these people thinking coming on a show like this if they weren’t truly ready.

Matt’s mother has projected all of her past and present trauma onto Matt. Matt was so happy and on the path to healing until his mother triggered him with all of her past/present programming in the home he grew up in. Matt is a good man. Who needs to separate himself from his family to fully heal(for a season). He longs to be his own man. The mother has done way more damage and harm to Matt than his absent father. Matt deserves a chance to fully love and share his heart with someone. He is hurting. The mother is also unwilling to let him go. Her tears were selfish and filled with fear of no longer having control over Matt’s emotions fully. The mother stopped his journey to find love in one split second with her crippling programs and phrases. She needs counseling too. Be strong Matt.

Did he seriously bring up his high-school relationships and saying ' I love you'? He has no idea what loving a partner means. Love isn't the excitement of the fantasy suite or whatever. Real love is standing by your partner when he/she are at their worst. It's not walking away when your partner makes a wrong decision, and you are impacted. Obviously Matt's "love" for Rachael was nothing more than the excitement of a new relationship... and that died real quick.

His mom and brother are more realistic, wise and mature. When the honeymoon period is over, the guards are down, then it’s real life. No rush for such an important decision. People change over time as they grow. Some partners grow at a different pace and later on have a disconnect. Think he needs to experience life more to know himself better and to know what he wants and needs.

May be true - what was really sad for Michelle was that he wpuld not even give her 2 minutes of times to speak with him & get closure. That made her feel extra bad after the fantasy suite Im sure. If I was matt go back to your nice job, continued helping inner city kids and one day Mrs. James will be there for you , just like the late great kobe Bryant he found a lovely wife spontaneously, I miss him .
