The Atlanta Falcons’ 2018 season was nothing short of depressing. Despite preseason aspirations of a deep playoff run and even redemption in the Super Bowl, injuries decimated the team and left them floundering through a 7-9 campaign. But despite the struggles of the team around him, QB Matt Ryan managed to have one of the best seasons of his career, one that eerily mimicked the statistics of his 2016 MVP campaign and yet still went almost completely unnoticed by the NFL. Troy Mathis actually I’ve been to several videos in the comment section where multiple people state this. Which I’ve never understood. Like one video ranked the top 32 qbs and people would make there own list in the comment sections. First off, EVERYTHING was in our favor going into it. We were playing at home. We were 7-1 to their 1-7. We were HEAVILY favored to win, and to win pretty hard at that. We got trounced. Basically all teams have similar things. But yeah no I feel you on the Rams, I can't stand the new Rams, ever since they moved to LA and yes it's mainly because we got burned on not one but TWO no-calls in games versus them at pivotal moments. I don't hate the Falcons. I hate the Rams. The only time we ever got see Drew Brees vs Tom Brady in games previous before was in the playoffs only. I wonder if that factored into TB's wanting to switch to a different conference at all -- he finally gets to play regularly against another GOAT contender, Drew Brees.

great stats in losing games mean nothing, as you have to take into account when the great stats happen...and in ryans case, he racked up a lot of yardage in games that were already decided, meaning the opposing teams were giving him every throw that was short and kept the clock going. and atlanta was 4 and 9 until they played the two worst teams in the nfl and another losing team with an injured qb.

I really appreciate the narratives that STE chooses. I feel like the NFL and national media to a very poor job in their coverages of many teams. They invent false narratives, leave out glaring details, and then repeat and echo and echo. Thanks for this dive on Matt Ryan. Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been saying Matt is not the problem, he’s the best qb we’ve ever had in my opinion. Sure he’s not perfect but he’s consistent and stays healthy. I hate how he gets blamed for every single one of our losses (he can’t play defense too!) even a good chunk of our fans turn on him when we lose and it’s sad. He needs a ring before non-believers will take him seriously

Kyle Shannahan was the real reason why he won that MVP. He was the perfect coordinator for Ryan’s skill set and made the best of it. His time in San Fran has justified it too, with CJ beathard, Nick Mullens and Jimmy G all playing much better than expected in his system

@@kennydomino6933 Freeman,Julio,and Roddy are all good help,but recently Freeman has been injured,he had a past prime Tony who was still good I might add,Ridley is still a young player who is good receiver but nowhere near a lot of other recievers and Sanu is a above average reliable target.Hes had help but not a huge amount like you think, factoring in his defense and his o-line some years and him having to adjust a new OC every couple years hes should not be discredited because "He has help"

I enjoy your videos, my good man. It's hard to find people who provide good, fair analysis in this day and age. People want to place blame on someone when things don't go their way, and while I will argue that some of his stats were due to garbage time, a lot of his play kept the Falcons in games. If he didn't play well, the Falcons didn't do well, and even when he played well, there were times that it didn't matter because the defense let him down, just like when the Bengals with ANDY DALTON led a last minute drive to win the game. I'm a big fan of Matt Ryan's, even though he always seems to tear my Packers apart, haha. Keep up the good work, my friend!
