lol same dude, i’ve already began to nudge the wife in the direction of a Niagara Falls trip that being said i am currently debating the Fastback vs Del Mar vs Newport 3 , i would’ve already purchased but the “fitter” at second swing told me “you have a perfect stroke, you have the type of stroke that can use any putter, just pick the one that feels right” lol soooooo i knew i was dealing with an expert 😂😂😂🔥🔥🙃🙃🙃

granted i did make 37 straight 10 footers while doing the fitting using the Newport 3 but i also made 9/9 with the del mar and 8/9 with the fastback while under pressure on camera but it is a straight in easy putt , it’s all different on the course when it counts and i get my ass i don’t make but 6-7/9 on a straight 10 footer on the course where the green is huge and not a perfect straight board only 3 feet wide that essentially helps you align every putt , 2nd swings putter fittings is kinda a joke

I had a similar revelation about my putter length when I was fitted for an Edel. I was used to playing a 35” and was fitted for 33.5” made a huge difference in path, strike and confidence.

Ever since I switched to a shorter putter and moved a bit closer to the ball, Arccos now tells me I putt like a 1.1 index... even though my overall index is 11.9. I've had a few rounds like I putted like a plus handicap even though I shot over par. Everything is improving.. strike, path, face angle...Putting is now the clear strength in my game.

A shorter putter has always intrigued me because I have really long arms so with a 35 my elbows are pretty bent during address. Every video you guys make convinces me I need to go get fit.

I just can't imagine those two putters feeling similar under any circumstance. I'm building an IKEA kitchen so really diving into your videos and loving them but they are just so different. Plus he was NAILING the 3.5 puts right in the middle and the Anser style putter was hitting them into the right side of the cup. Would love your thoughts on this.

When I went for a club fitting I was shocked how far off my alignment was with the putter, 3 inches to the right on a 20 foot putt. You don't realize how valuable putter club fitting is until you have it done, not to mention the rest of the clubs in the bag.

I went to a 33.5" from 35" as well. Maltby ptm-4. Heavy head @ 375gr. Bit of a wider blade anser shape. Definitely helped me get into a better position at address. First few rounds was an awsome honeymoon period. Slowed a bit. But sticking with it. Trying to keep my bag consistent this year. Not something I've had for a few seasons.

Got an Evnroll ER7 from John S @ TXG late last fall, putting is night and day this year compared to last...Quintec is amazing , got fit into a putter style I never would have thought would have benefitted my arced stroke ... also had the lie flattened 10* , try getting that from a Golftown fitting, trust me go see the boys at TXG. Maybe a stability shaft this fall ? Who knows.

Got a 33inch SC select Newport 3. Love the head,feel of the putter. Grip was issue found I was over turning on way through missing right (being lefty like Matt) changed to super stroker 3.0 flatso with 50g weight.. tried it without the weight felt odd swing shakier.. soon as put 50g weight in swing felt smooth no shaking more back and through with no over turn.. made more puts and ball rolling end over end perfectly.. got a thin red line around my balls...golf balls. Keep up good work guys love your insight.

Great video guys ! Length is such a crucial factor... I’m 5’-6” and I’m now down to 32.5 inches and 3 deg flat on my Evnroll ER2...it was 33 inches but ironically the dudes at Stabilty shaft must’ve nipped it down 1/2 inch. Which TBH is better for me !! I feel more comfortable at 32.5 inches . I’m fully recovered from COVID-19 and have the Antibodies.. Lost about 6 weeks of post OP PT on my rotator cuff from surgery in Dec. ‘19 and i wont be ready to fully swing a club until about August ... taking 1 day at time ... Take care guys.

I am now considering a new putter after lockdown. As I am only 5' 6" I use an unusually short putter which I cut down and regrip. As most shafts are tapered it is difficult to properly fit the grip and mostly need to add extra tape to secure it lower down the shaft. It would be useful if manufacturers fitted a non taper shaft.

For me, the missing short puts was definitely aiming differently than I thought I was doing (I have a very dominant Right eye and standing side on leads to this issue). Once I understood this, I started to use the line on the ball for 'scoring' putts inside approximately 12 feet. For putts longer than this, I am far better to stand slightly open and concentrate solely on speed. Adopting this combo putting approach style, easily lowered my handicap by multiple shots.

A mid/high handicap golfer would be much more help to me. Mat seemed to know what the numbers were as soon as he struck the ball. As always your advice tweaked his already excellent results. The only fitting I have been able to get from the fitter at the golf club was "get one that feels right" - hopefully you can show a proper fitting to the mid/high handicap golfer. Thanks Ian 🏌️‍♀️👍

Has Matt ever done the Mike Malaska drill where he covers a tee in the ground halfway to the hole on a short straight putt to see if his eye line is correct at set-up to validate that he is aiming where he thinks he is aiming and seeing the correct line at address? I feel like this could help his stroke and putter choice with length/lie?

With the changeable weights how does having different weights in the heel and toe affect the direction and or face strike of the putt? I'm not just talking about two 8g weights vs two 10 g weights I'm talking about a 8 g heel weight and a 12g toe weight. Thanks.

Asymmetrical weights have almost no effect that Changes or Improves Anything. There is NO effect on Toe Hang/Flow, since it is how the Shaft ATTACHES to the Head that controls this. All you will accomplish is messing up the "Sweet Spot.

Great Video on tweaking Matty’s putter. I just love that Quintic System to help evaluate the putters during the fitting. Have you ever had a fitting comparison with all the Torque balanced putters? I would love to see the Quintic numbers along with your thoughts about the various torque balanced putters from L.A.B. , Edel, and Axis putters. Ian, have you ever considered installing a drop down Window Shade for use during Putter Fittings? Things going on behind the glass walls can be distracting during the videos. These Putter Fitting Videos are my Favorite, because I know I have a much Better Chance of sinking 12 foot Putts, against Hitting 300 Yard Drives and 185 7 Irons. 😉

Most companies standard loft for putter is 3-4. Ian seems to usually recommend 1-2. What is the reasons behind this? Are companies just being on the safe side or is there lots more that goes into it.?

As Green Speed increases, less Loft is neede and preferred. A little Forward Shaft Lean included at Address, or a small Forward Press can be used to "Deloft" a Putter.

Good rule of thumb, yes. Increased MOI. They've spoke about it on previous videos. Think there's even a blade vs mallet if I remember correctly.

Since Matty has a stability shaft setup, curious if the length was taken off the butt end or if off the steel shaft part to adjust balance point. Would trimming from the steel portion move balance more up the shaft since the steel is probably heavier than the graphite? Don’t know much about the mechanics of the Stability shaft graphite-steel joint if it is a one and done use of the steel portion or if you would be able to trim it down to fine tune after use.

Bandit, I used to play with a guy who was easy to wind up. His putting was poor so we suggested it may be better to use a shorter putter.....he asked if it would help and we said, even if it doesn't it will be easier to fit in the bin.......

Hi Ian, I've been watching these videos for years now and something has just occurred to me.. Lots of work is done here in fitting to ensure that the ball starts on the correct line, with consistent launch characteristics. What about pace control? Is there a reason you don't have tape markings on the ground at 3, 6, 9 ,12 feet and after the line/launch characteristics have been sorted out you see how well the player can put balls to each distance? You could measure distance dispersion and standard deviation? I ask because I think that I can be more directionally consistent with a mallet putter but I lose all distance control as a result. It occurs to me that in a fitting I could be really easily put in the wrong putter if distance control wasn't a factor?

That is the biggest improvement I’ve seen since my putter fitting at TXG , my distance control in the past was poor to say the least, lots of three putt bogies or worse. Since my fitting three putts are now a rare thing , no more coming up 6 ft short or blowing them 5 ft past the hole, leaving everything pretty much inside 2 ft or less for easy tap ins.

Centre shafted putters are underrated - if you have a good swing you can use them without fail

None of the greats have ever used a center shafted putter- furthermore I had a fitting on Sam putt lab which was one of the best they'd seen in months according to the data my my swing stayed on path better than 99.6% of other players who had been tested/fitted there. and although it did feel good actually, that was my worst outcome was the center Shafted.

Hi guys could you do a in depth review on the callaway Toulon range of putters... you guys have me convinced on what range of callaway irons to get fitted and fairway wood with a previous review you guys did. But putters is a thing I can't get my head around my stroke is an ark montion I have tried putters like the sc select 2.0, o works 7 and #2, Rosie 2 and the classic ping anser style putter, but I'm lost I like the look of the Toulon san Diego putter but would like to get your opinion on them guys if that's possible

Just got my putter in to get shortened to 33.5! When I let my arms dangle without any elbow bend and then grip the club they rest at about 33 inches. 35 inches is way too long for most people.

If I walked into a golf store(which would be an impossible dream in the wonderful world of COVID), I would have to buy a woman's putter to get one the right length, and I would buy it because I am secure in my masculinity and think the pink grip looks cool.

Why not Edel ? Its the best putting system in the world. There is a 97% chance he wont be able to aim his putter, if you cant aim your putter the ball cant start on line . The club face dictates 95% of the result if the shot. If you cant get the face pointing correctly at the start u wont be able to realy hole putts

Once again.... (as an hobby fitter and passionate golfer) I really like this stuff but I was wondering what about; 1. looks like Mathy's balposition is more towards his backfoot, why ? because it's under his dominant eye ? 2. The sole thickness of his shoes ? quite thick imo ...I have 6-7 pair golfshoes and expirienced it with Ecco Cool shoes to thick for me, sounds crazy but thinner soles makes a significant differance for me also with walking / feeling and 'aimpointing' the green. 3. Shaftweight ? Slightly counterbalance even tho shortened shaft ? With the good read and speed 0.6 of a degree face control is in the hole...Maybe a video with capto golf solution... www.captogolf.com ?
