Great Video. I have a Beeman R7 I purchased in 1983 in San Rafel, CA. I have a new Breech Seal coming as the original is fairly flat from keeping the barrel closed all the time (not cocked). I want to do the same thing - thanks for the help; I will try a sash clamp as noted in the other comments - but I do like the video and appreciate the help. I just took my R7 apart. All went well. I used a sash clamp and a long socket to take all pressure off the spring to unscrew the screw holding the spring assembly in place. Wish I could attach a picture - worked very easy. Thanks for the help.

glad you sorted it :)

Breaking(not cocking) the barrel before removing the pivot bolt makes it easier because there will be less pressure on it.

Thanks for this Matt. Always good to follow someone else stripping a gun for the first time. My 30 is the only gun I havent tuned as yet so stripped it following your video in readiness for a Welsh Willy kit and a set of Britseals.

At what point did you remove the safety pin and the safety pin spring?
@talyllynuk6 ай бұрын
Excellent vid! It has inspired me to have ago at replacing the spring in my HW30. I'm in the UK but it has a German spring so is very low power, about 4fpe. Do you have any reccomendations for a de-greaser?

I use Brake Cleaner . Works a treat and a spray can of it lasts a fair while for basic airgun work

Custard Cream's, this is all.

Now THAT'S as controversial as the 177 vs 22 calibre debate! Is a CUSTARD CREAM the greatest ? I fear not.... I fear not.....but I am prepared to try one during a video one day... because Trig0r said I should!

Made a massive school boy error with my hw30, bloody de-cocked it incorrectly.. knocked safety off , pulled trigger and BANG while the barrel was broken..😢 held the barrel and no injuries but now its all grouchy and twangy when its shot😢 and ideas what i could have done to the poor bugger? And what to maybe check for if i open it up?

My only suggestion is: Angle the camera down a little bit. Couldn't see what you were doing.

Hello- I do try to get a good angle but it's a mobile phone balanced on a box on the table. It's a bit limiting. Sorry you couldn't see it all

This video should be taken down, misleading to anyone who has no experience to strip down a HW30s. To release the main spring, a sash clamp to holding it, it is the minimal tool shall be needed, it is just $25 in amazon. Two reason, the first reason, without the clamp the main spring will pop out at the when last half thread may be more of the screw, it is so dangerous especially you dun know how much force pre-compressed. Second reason is this pop out will damage the holding screw and associated thread. Without the clamp this shall not be proceed, anyway you will need the clamp to put back the main spring. I really do not understand why showing this video for public see how a not well prepared and irresponsible stripe down. *** again having a sash clamp is the minimal tools as well as you need those screw drivers, without the clamp is not minimal, this is improper. Don't be mislead. ***

I disagree, I have never needed a spring compressor or sash clamp for any weihrauch air rifle under 12ft/lb
@mattscountry363 Жыл бұрын
You're very welcome to your opinion. And I to mine. An HW30S is a doddle to release the spring pressure from. No sash clamp on my gun was needed. This gun makes under 8ft lb. Aint no one getting whacked with this. Best thing you can do is make your own video, showing us how you do it, and link it here and we can all watch and compare. Cant say fairer than that, right?

It's doing quite low power so a clamp is not required, if you're US-based I assume your rifle may be producing more power which could require a clamp
@scottcov56 Жыл бұрын
Never knew what a sash clamp was (called), but I have 4 in my garage. I'll assume you put one end at the back of the tube, get the other end of the sash clamp close, then screw in the sash clamp until it holds spring / the back of the main tube, taking off the pressure of the spring - then unscrew the screw, then loosen the sash clamp slowly. Interesting idea.. I'll try that but given my low power R7, I think the wood block will work as show in the video - but I can see how the sash clamp would work better; and for the install of the spring also. Thanks.

Dude, chill out. It’s only a HW30😂 This video is very useful imo.
