I’m basically the only aggro player in my community full of people who play exclusively combo. It’s a dirty job, someone has to do it.

Loving this video. I love playing against effective aggro players because it's like dealing with a puzzle. And winning or losing against the deck feels satisfying.

OMG I want to watch/listen to Matt's deep explanation of his Mirri deck

That was a good podcast. I have a very similar playstyle - love creatures and slamming a board full of big monsters. Tribal dinosaurs is the greatest edh deck.

my favorite decks are the ones that place a larger emphasis on the creatures instead of the spells. Matt's comment about playing a creature to get value now and extra value later is exactly why i LOVE my Aminatou deck so i 100% get where he is coming from with that

I really like this kind of episodes. It's a more personal approach to the format and the different ways to do it. This can help for inspiration or personalizing decks. THough I don't have it in paper, I kinda feel the same with my Thantis, The War Weaver. Not everybody plays/likes her, so no one expects what it can do. I must say I'm eager to hear the Necromancer's episode ^^

I am the aggro player in my playgroup, and in all formats. And i enjoy it because i like maximising the efficiency of a deck. I find in control decks u put stuff that halts an opponent and you wait. In aggro, for it to work you have to make sure every single little piece works together the best way to make sure u can overcome 3 oponentes trying to stop you. It like a puzzle. It all has to come together in perfect harmony

My next Mardu deck will be Queen Marchesa. It’s looking to control the combat phase, not just mine, but yours as well. Combat is often over looked in the commander format, but it can be pretty powerful when done right. There’s also going to be some great old school cards in it that Dana should would love.

I’m VERY similar to Matt. I love nothing more then overwhelming the board with creatures and just swinging out. Don’t even really do the math most of the time, just send stuff the way of my opponents and see what happens. I have a Torens deck that is kind of like Matt’s Kyler deck, half the creatures are humans and the anything that isn’t has a counter subtheme going and it’s very synergistic while also being very aggro too. So much fun!
@Dubi2643 жыл бұрын
I also play very proactive decks, like my angry omnath, because I hate sandbagging stuff. If I've got the thing I'm doing it. I'll worry about the crackback later.

I love aggro too. I esp. like to combine a Voltron strat with it, cutting the necessary damage from 120 to a hundred. Doran and Double Strike Atarka are my favorites here.

Great series! That style of deck sounds very enjoyable in Selesnya, Akiri/Ardenn are a lot of fun I found out so I'm curious what green brings. Marisi tickles my fancy for a long time now but the deck just seems so difficult to build. Also I am not sure not enough people would like Mirri, she's just very expensive and at that price point I have stopped to even look at a card or what it does.

Funny that pathbreaker ibex was brought up. I picked up a few years ago when it was like a dollar or less because I thought it was neat and recently checked the price and I guess it's like fifteen bucks now?

I had a Valduk Deck once and I LOVED IT. Took it apart, because in my Playgroup he got focused hard. But I have to build him again. He really SMACKS faces if people leave him be.

My aggro deck is Cat Tribal with Mirri. I probably need to throw a couple more good ways to tap her in there, but with all the token and life-gain support in the Cat tribe, she's actually just a really sneaky good lord for the tribe.

I love both graveyard synergies and beatdown deck. I love bashing faces with aurelia and other boros creatures, while sevinne's reclamation, sun titan, brought back and other recursion spells keep the gas running. The deck is not particularly strong, but boy is it a blast to play. My fav deck however is a pretty simple malestrom wanderer beatdown deck (no mass land destruction nonsense). Just ramp hard and cast your fatties for free. Bounce wanderer to hand and do it again.
@theliving10373 жыл бұрын
Aggro to me is usually really weak in commander, but consistent. I play combo, and I have lots of staples for me like living death, sudden spoiling, and bounce spells. I don't run high power, but I have won on turn 3 before, but I also have a Ghired deck and have won on turn 4 with that before.

I think the reason Mirri doesn't see more play is that she's like $23+. I've wanted to build, or at least use, her more than once, but that's too rich for me.

@psychozen71693 жыл бұрын
It for me it depends on the turn order my style. If I am first I prefer control, seat two or second mid range aggro, seat three aggro or pillow fort, and last combo because it your best chance to win in that seat unless the monarch house rule is in effect for player four get monarch. Then I will play anything.
