I was 21 when i Lost my dad 3/19…. I’m glade I flew up a year earlier and had a drink with him had a 3 day walleye trip in SD. and that unknowingly would be the last hug I gave him. It was a long hug… so long it felt different. And I think about it a lot thank you for this. 25 now with 1 year old daughter. Thankful my girlfriend now Fiancé… ( never had a father in her life) got the chance to speak and to have at least heard his voice and one conversation together and it means the world now.. just thank you.

My father passed away 2 yeara ago this week. My mother died 20 days before. It was a testament to their love. 68 years of marriage. People ask, "I'm so sorry- how do you deal with that"....I look and smile. I had them for 48 years. All of them good, loving, caring, and nurturing years. I was so lucky in so many ways blessed with 2 loving parents. But they got a chance to see me grow from a boy to a man and it was due to them, 4 grandkids they watched grow to adults. I'm sad- but grateful. Miss you dad!

recently lost my dad at 46; on father's day was the first time I heard this song. on my way to work on Pandora. it was meant to be for the moment to hear this song. it's a drive I will never forget. he was a hard working man. the cancer got to him but he never gave up the fight. I promised him I'd move a 1000 miles to attend college. started a few months after he passed. will never forget what he said "please get to that school" before he left the Hospital to go to the hospice. I will make him proud. never told anyone one this but he's the reason why I started looking at what I wanted to pursue in college. looked up one day, saw the planes flying in the air. thought to myself, I fix my own car myself being a mechanic would be great. let's make it better and become an aviation mechanic technician. told my dad about that. he was super proud, I won't let him down. down here in texas doing what I told him what I'd do before he passed.

My friend Tim, my girlfriend and I took him for his last Elk hunt in oct 2017 and shortly afterwards he past away in our home! Fortunately I still have my step dad with me today. He suffered a horrific car crash way back in the day before we knew him. He was pronounced dead twice and still made it though somehow and has the scars on his head to prove it. I’ve known him since I was about 5 years old. He’s since suffered 5 heart attacks, a triple bypass, and has close to 30 stents in his heart. He’s taught me everything I know with the most valuable thing being how to use tools/my hands to fix things especially my cars. I owe that man everything for the priceless knowledge he’s shared with me through the years. He’s more of a dad than my real dad (my real dad is still a good dad, but I only saw him on weekends growing up so my step dad ultimately was a bigger influence but I love them both equally!). I dread the day when my step dad has to leave us for a better place. I have a list of songs I’d like to play at his funeral and just added this one to that list. Two songs he’s specifically requested we play at his funeral are: “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by Vince Gill and “Love Without End, Amen” by George Strait. I try to see him at least once a week while I still can and spend as much time with him and all of my family while we’re all still here. Our time on this earth is priceless and we need to treat it as such!

My dad shot himself 12/26/2019, "the day after Christmas". I still can't believe the man that taught me everything, the man that i always hoped to be like, could do something like this. He was ONE HELL OF A MAN. His suicide has really fucked with my mind.. I lost my little brother 10/16/2017. He fell asleep on his way to work, that monday morning, and hit a tree. These last few year have been rough on me, i mean, I can literally feel the emptiness, but I know there are people in this world that have it way worse than me. I have found many songs that express the solitude after loosing your father. This song speaks to me differently. It has been 10 years since my father fell out of a tree while he was cutting it down for an elderly lady. That fall cost him his life. Since that freakishly HORRIBLE day, I have graduate High School, had 2 beautiful sons and supported my own family. I see him in both of my children EVERY DAY! The oldest is JUST like him. I wish sooo bad that he couldve met them, he'd be so proud! I still pick up the phone and try to dial his number, just to hang up when i remember...so I guess what I'm saying is THANK YOU! I lost my dad a few months ago. He was 71 died suddenly while healing at a rehab, I should be lucky for the time I got with him. I've been told I sound and look just like him, he wasn't perfect, but to me he was pretty great, taught me so many things that I love to this day. It just pains me knowing I can't just call him up and talk to him, hear him laughing or just call to say hi. It's going to be tough, but I hope my dad is watching over us.

Matt I just found your music by watching Triple D of all things. I'm crying now because of Hey Dad. My dad was INCREDIBLE & AWESOME all at the same time!!! Pop's been gone almost 4 years now & i still miss him!!! My dad was also a PROUD HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR...there wasn't a piece of machinery he couldn't run...he was mainly a cherry-picker/crane operator. I'm a 50 yr old PROUD LONG-HAUL TRUCK DRIVER OF CLOSE TO 30 YRS...YOU WILL BE GOING ON THE ROAD WITH ME NOW!!! Thanks for still keeping it COUNTRY!!!
