My son just moved out of state to chase his own path in life. He sent this song to me today and I cursed him for making this grown man cry. I’m also my daddy’s son, so I felt it twice. Good job man. Keep writing!

This is coming from a mom.. I’m always apologizing for what my hubby and I didn’t do rite. He tells me mom .. if it wasn’t for your and dads rules. I wouldn’t be the man I am now..He’s 34 with 2 boys of his own now. He is a police officer of 10 yrs now. I tell my husband all the time. If we did anything rite as young kids who made a child. Was raise him to be a awesome man. God bless all the dads. I miss mine so badly. ✨✌️💜🎶

Dude I lost my dad on April 18th 2012. Seems like yesterday. Brought tears to my eyes man. We take for granite the time we have here. Then it's gone in the blink of an eye. My dad passed 3 weeks before my first kid was born. Wished he would have gotten to meet his papaw. One hell of a man. Miss you dad. Love ya and everything's alright. Thanks for your comment man.

Oh my, i'm sitting here with tears rolling down my face. Hearing from my dad, as a 13 and 16 year old boy that I was not welcome in his "new family" with a new woman broke me. I did not even hear from him when my daugther was born. My duty here in life is to be that supporting, present and loving dad, that I never had...

@@thatreadboy I'm not one to give advice, but just be a brother not a father... Assure you it's difficult for even us seasoned dad's to walk the line of trying to be their friend AND parent... Just be his big brother and an ear to listen when he wants to talk, siblings have to be there for each other long after mom and dad have left this world. Nurture that relationship, I wouldn't advise taking on a fatherly role as it may just make him resentful and push you away. I'm talking to the parents here. Always make sure to tell your children your love and how proud you are. Even if they're not what we expected them to be. I lost my son. He was on his way to my home. He got off the city bus. To cross the street. I must a truck a pickup truck. My baby lay there on the road by Himself he died at 11:57 PM. He didn't have no ID on. Him He had lost it a couple days before. But that night I felt something within me I remember saying God. Please protect Jesse Keep him safe. I went to sleep. I get a knock at the door that morning. Ask me If I knew a Jesse Erwin I said yes, he's my son,, is everything okay? There's been an accident.. I said where he told me. I said what hospital is he at so I could get there? He said I'm sorry to tell you, but your son didn't make it..My world stopped It was. like an echo coming out of the man's voice. Please always tell your children you love them. and that you forgive them? For anything that your child may have done or you have done please .You may not know when it will be your last God bless you

The timing of me finding this song and video today is not just a coincidence, but a gift for what it reminded me of - the bond growing up with my old man in rural America. He passed when I was younger back in June 2010 and from that perspective it also makes me miss all the memories we didn’t get to have together in my adult life.

😭 I came across this song and it so describes my Son. When he was growing up on this old farm he would often butt heads with his Dad, chores, rules, etc. My husband taught him to work hard, even if it caused them to argue, fuss and fight over who was wrong and who was right. There came a time when despite the love, he went his own way, and sadly stayed away. October 3, 2014 My husband passed away, and before he took his last breath he said, "I've made peace with him Momma, I Pray he comes home to you someday". 😭 That Day came 4 months ago and it is amazing to see the difference in him. HE IS HIS DADS SON!! He is back on the farm, taking care of things here, owns his own business, cares for his children despite opposition from 2 failed marriages, and I know his Dad is looking down from Heaven proud that he came home to the family that never stopped loving him and Praying for him. I'm not well and he makes sure I am cared for, because he is his DADS SON 💙

This song really hits home. I Lost my Dad in 2012 when I was 25. It’s been a rough ride trying to piece it all together on my own and find my way through life. Watching him take his last breath is something I’ll always remember. Not because I want to remember his passing, but rather to remember how in that exact moment I realized how much I really loved my dad. I’m 37 now and living life to its fullest raising my son and loving every moment of it. I think about how much my Dad would’ve loved him and how proud he would’ve been. If you’re reading this Dad, I love you. I miss you and I hope I make you proud.

I lost my dad last year out of nowhere... Im an only child... I was my daddy's son. Growing up I got into a lot of trouble and never took my dad's advice. I ended up going to prison and costing my parents damn near everything they had. My dad never turned his back on me. He had every reason to write me off. I spent the last 15 years working my ass off to make him proud. I heard this song and when you sing the line, if I'm being honest, dad, I'm so glad you stayed, I totally lost it and poured tears. He's a god fearing man and so is his young wife both 23 years old. I sent this to him and it took 2 hours his dog and two beers to call me. And he was still a mess like me. The chorus line "It is in my blood.... find the underdog and make him strong so he can be alright, walk straight to it gets late..if you looking to where I get it from I am my Daddy's son" says it all. I chose different path than my Dad and my boys have chosen different paths too but the moral courage and strength runs thick from my Dad all the way to my boys.... God bless you buddy! Lost my daddy when I was 26 to cancer and I hadn't grown up yet. Miss my daddy even more now that I'm the man he raised me to be. With babies of my own, thank you for the share

My husband is a twin...him and his sister were raised by a aunt. They never knew their dad. They met him for the 1st time as adults. Even though they never met much less spoken to each other they were like twins themselves! Their mannerisms, they way they walked and talked and so much more... it was the most amazing and heart breaking thing all at the same time.

This song made me cry because it reminded me of my Father. He passed in 2019 and this song sounds exactly like the two of us. My Father was on heck of a man! I just want to live up to his example. I love you Dad!❤❤❤❤❤

I love you son and you'll always be everything to me. If you happen to read this when I'm alive or when I'm dead, remember I'll always be inside of you like you are with me. Heaven doesn't need to exist for this to be. Stay strong and always challenge yourself.
