Check out their song Evolve from the same MTV VMA performance. Evolve is more skewed toward hard Rock with a killer drum performance. They blew away everyone in the audience and even the director who was recording the show for broadcast a few days later. BTW they did both their songs in one take each although they were allowed 3 takes. Also, they were the only band asked to perform that was not nominated for an award.

when DPA/TW play *MORE* live, it hits harder and has a rougher, grungier sound than the studio version in the OMV... the OMV is a fun video with DPA/TW playing and dancing around on a set that has a huge number of hidden easter eggs that long time followers will spot easily... for me, that brings back some memories of the fun videos we used to see on MTV back when it actually was "music videos all the time"... yes, i saw MTV's first broadcast when they officially came on the air 😹 i'm quite proud and happy for DPA/TW for making these milestone appearances at two MTV functions, the MIAW in CDMX (back in Aug 2023) and the VMAs in NY&NJ (Extended Stage) (in Sep 2023)... three additional milestones are 1) they are the first Mexican band to perform at the VMAs, and 2) they were invited to perform, and 3) they were not nominated for anything... that speaks volumes in a great and huge way! now add to that they have been doing this for 10 years and, right now, most of that was while independent... i would also be remiss if i didn't mention that this performance was real unlike the other groups that also performed here... DPA/TW did both of their songs fully live and in one take while the others lip synced and took all three takes of which the ""best"" was selected for airplay... DPA/TW were also the only ones to be announced on the main stage when it was time to present their performance... yes, they have been playing longer than 10 years but that includes while they were learning and starting to become proficient at their art and individual instruments... in a vlog they made a couple of years ago, Pau mentions that she has been drumming for 13 years... she was 19 at that time... that was 2 years ago... it is hard to believe, but quite obvious once you have watched them a few times, that they have been playing their instruments for 15 years and playing together as a band for 10 years... we won't even mention how this all started because of the game Rock Band 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Great 1st reaction to The Warning Matt! Check out the other song they played at the VMA's - EVOLVE. The Villarreal-Velez sisters are amazing songwriters and performers from Mexico who live in Monterrey, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI CENTURY BLOOD", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "ESCAPE THE MIND"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called "MAYDAY" October 8th, 2021. The entire album was released June 24th, 2022: called "ERROR". "Disciple" is my favorite track! They are even better LIVE - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaCToJeiobukbsksi=h1wzuqkzRK-b1uK6 They have recently finished recording their 4th studio album: no name or release date yet. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (recording engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English Bilingual school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. Shortly thereafter they got real instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 23, 21 and 19 years old and have already written, arranged, and released #46 original songs (and recently finished recording their 4th studio album). They recently performed 2 songs at the MTV VMA's. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. I had the opportunity to meet with them 3 more times during the 10 shows I attended on their 2022 North American MAYDAY Tour and 2023 ERROR WORLD TOUR. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. 🗣 Subscribed! 👊😃

Remember how old they are in the videos you know. That's why they didn't seem as good as they do now, because they were still children. Now they are young adults. And Ale had to be out of school at the age of 19. Only now does everyone have the time (and the right to work as adults) to go on tour longer. Their record deal has also given them the means to do bigger shows. On her channel is the playlist and the entire concert from the Theatro Metropolitan concert from 2022. That was there biggest show until recently. You can simply react , especially if you don't know the current LP Error yet. They seem to have just topped that with strings and piano on stage at the Pepsi Center in CDMX. This concert is apparently still in post-production.

This is a song they wrote with some co-writers as just a fun song and is definitely more pop rock that most of their catalogue. Check out Evolve, the second song from this performance, for a heavier sound, and if you want a more metal sound their Queen of the Murder Scene album won't disappoint.

Thanks for checking out these sisters newer stuff. It is a bit more poppy than a lot of their other songs, they wrote with other people this time and experimented some. Muse is one of the girls favorite bands, and that influence can be heard here. As a refresher, they are the Villarreal Velez sisters from Monterrey Mexico. Daniela (Dany) on guitar (will be 24 the end of this month), Paulina (Pau pronounced Pow) on drums (22 in Feb), and Alejandra (Ale) on bass( just turned 19 in Dec). Dany sings on a majority of songs, Pau sings lead on some. Ale will sing lead if needed, but no designated lead vocal songs to date.( we're hoping she does in the future) More was recorded with Pau using a wood block, she is using the instrument formerly known as a cow bell in the live show. The Warning army has renamed it to the Pau-bell. lol 2 other songs from the upcoming album are harder, but so far only fan cams for those, they haven't been released yet, just played in concerts so far. The other song played here at the awards show, Evolve, is harder too, check that out. And anything from the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022 concert, like "Disciple" which has Dany and Pau on co-lead vocals.

"Evole" from the VMA is hard rock. There is no metal screaming. They have "warned" us their new album is hard, and we should be ready. "More" was co-written and produced with Anton Delost and Niko Rubio. They wanted to explore new sounds and a way of creating new material. They also spent 2 weeks writing with new people every day, which they said was informative but stressful. They are very intelligent and want to learn new things. They absorb everything like a sponge. They don't think they know it all and are eager to learn. They may be more animated and have more stage presence, but they never lacked confidence. Since you like metal, stream the radio station WSOU, Seton Hall Pirate Radio.

This served as a divider between real fans and not so real ones who left because the band went pop. We who are in the TWA (The Warning Army), long time followers, we know TW are experimenting with merging different kind of music genres all the time. But make no mistake, they are rock. The OV was much more "poppy" and explored the happy and fun side of TW and it was also the first song The Warning ever cowrote with others. Then they started to do it LIVE, and they changed the song accordantly to fit their format. The warning always are tweaking their songs, like their version of Enter Sandman which they now have played in at least three different arrangements, the latest one is with a string ensemble on stage. They constantly try to evolve and find new ways. Get maximum out of their instruments and play the S*it out of them. The sound you hear in this song which sounds like a airplane or a synth, is actually Dany using one of her nine guitars through a KEMPER. When she gets a new guitar, she always learns what it can do. She is a guitar nerd and very accomplished guitar player. All three of them are experts at their gear and there are clips by the tour bus where each of the band members makes a run down of their gear and how it is used Live and in the studio. Check them out and you will be amazed by these rockers really knowing their stuff. There is no other rock band like The Warning. Happy exploring in that rabbit hole. Good reaction.

Nice honest reaction! You made some good points about expectations from younger audiences (who plays instruments anymore?) which is a shame, but hopefully The Warning can prove the opposite is true. They played two songs at this MTV awards show, and "More" was designed to appeal to the broader pop-oriented audience. "Evolve" from this same performance will definitely be more your cup of tea and I have no doubt you'll love reacting to it. And TWA will love it as well! 🔥

In fact is the unique pop song, cause to go massive promotion. They have almost 50 original hard rock songs, some has been written with dark Heavy lirycs and nearby to metal sound. Great, thoughtful, reaction. As other have noted, More received a mixed reaction from TW faithful. With that said, the two other (unreleased) tracks that they have played live are much heavier ("Sick" and "Hell You Called a Dream"). As other point out, "Evolve" from the same MTV VMA performance, is a gem.

Highly doubt your ever going to hear them do Gutturals, unless Ale decides to crank them out, and surprise the crap out of us someday. to me they are a Hard Rock band, not a screamo Metal band. While there are more branches of metal on that tree limb, than there are on the Rock Limb, They might rub branches for a couple songs like Queen of the Murder Scene & Evolve. You said you listened to their earlier stuff, but how far back? If before the release their 3rd LP ERROR, there are many off that LP, I am sure you will enjoy. They teased us with 2 more songs form the next LP besides MORE. Both are bangers, but one is called "Hell You Call A Dream", hits the hardest. In the end, if they aren't heavy enough for you, then at the least, you gave it a shot, and tried. 🤘

As a fellow metalhead, I'd definitely be down for them to lean more into their heavier side, but this song in particular is built to be a poppy radio single. It has a fun groove and their stage presence is great, but Evolve from the same VMA performance is much more of a punk/hard rock/ touch of metal sound which is definitely my favorite of the two. Disciple from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (posted on their main channel) is another of their songs with a heavier main riff.

Once you dig in deeper to their catalog you'll discover more about their journey. You can't put them into a single genre as they infuse and mix genres together. This song may have a pop feel at times but that break down is pure rock. You've seen suggestions to do their song Evolve from this same show. *More* is a collaboration with other writers. It's controversial with fans, most of whom are confused by the pop style. If you go back and play *Evolve,* the other song they played on the MTV stage, I think you'll find it more to your taste. It is pure The Warning rock!

If you are a very good boy , the Warning Army may let you watch the whole of a concept album they wrote in the early/mid teens which , I personally believe, may be the album they eventually get remembered for ( though I believe they could come up with someting that will tear down the walls in future. They are that talented). "Queens of the Murder Scene" The live at the Lunario concert is a ripper, and was performed as a whole of album concert. Dani's version of Crimson Queen in the concert , is my personal fav performance of hers. Oh and have you heard the Teatro Met CDMX version of Enter Sandman.

If you're looking for harsh vocals from The Warning, you'll be disappointed. That's not their thing. Screams? Occasionally, notably in 3 songs, Evolve, Z, and Hunter. They have a lot of variety in their discography but they're basically a hard rock band.

Pick any songs from the Teatro Metropolitan concert. They are all good. Even their slower songs have some grit to them. If you want a more metal sound, I would suggest 'Disciple' or 'Queen of the Murder Scene'. Both great!

Their core palette is hard rock, not metal. Give them some space. Just think on how many different genres The Doors ruled over. I ❤ ‘More’ as a 68 year old hard rock lover. It’s awesomely new and different. I’m about the last person who if asked would say hard rock had new territory to cover. As a visual artist, a painter, I would feel very artistically constipated if I only created paintings to answer my gallerists demand for what they most recently sold of my work. Way too many creatives fall into that trap. Regardless of medium, an artist must continuously cross the boundaries so that they can leave what they did yesterday in the past. (Think Picasso) I believe we’re all going to hear very surprising and unique music from the sisters for years to come. Be open to it. It’s going to be a great ride.

The same, if you love funky poppy rock, and you listened The Queen of the Murder Scene, again, you might think, this is not for you. Some people will listen to one song from a band and think it’s not for them. You might not like that, but it’s a fact.

The reverse is also true to some extend: pointing to the 'correct' one as if that is all what an artist does. Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" is not representative of their full catalogue as an example.

I love the Warning. This is not my favorite song from them and not really indicative of their music. They’ve played a couple of other new songs live which are more like what we’ve heard in the past.
