It just needs to be with the mother as long as possible and then come into an environment with experienced owners and a good companion horse that's well trained and has a gentle nature. Alternatively, it can run with cows or sheep, depending on the temperament. My father grew up with horses and I did too, and the most amazing horses are the ones you raise yourself. If you keep them with adult horses only they turn out easy to handle, but not well socialised, only with Learned helplessness, because the adult horse is much stronger, so it never gets to learn about group hirarchy and independence. I'm not against self-raising, but please get them proper company. Find someone who has a foal to keep them togehter or, if not possible, at least send your foal to a group if the same age for a few Weeks or Month in the summer.

you should try pre horses in germany or somewhere else! i know a farm where they train them after academic art of riding but also other stables where you find beautiful horses. the good thing is that they aren't abused like many horses in spain so you don't support horse abuse. also they have a much better and friendly education since they are trained after AAOR where things like rollkur are not supported at all. it's also not as far away from the netherlands as spain. i'm sure everyone will benefit from that

Wow. I can say you that's a really big stereotype and a great example of pre judgment. And thats harsh. As if this place in Andalusia, which is where he went for looking the horses, was the whole country,. "The good thing is that they aren't abused like many horses in Spain": As if you know every trainer in Spain. Many horses in Spain are loved and have a really good live, because we love them as much as a real horse lover can. There are assholes in all the sites so just stop saying things like that.

@@lolamartinezros289 i didn't say all horses i said MANY horses on purpose. and i also know good horse people in spain but that doesn't mean that many other people don't abuse their animals. you can't really compare this but if you know about german history i'm just gonna compare this. in germany there were people who didn't vote for hitler, but that doesn't mean that the rest didnt. it' s a fact they did. of course you can never speak for the whole country. but literally every horse matt saw was a very young horse (mostly 3 years old!) , already ridden, kept in a box and looking like they were traumatized. that shouldn't be seen as normal. i didn't wanna make it sound like spain is bad and every other country not. because if humans try to make money with animals, there will always be abuse. i just wanted to say that i know a good farm where he should look for one. and it's also a fact that it's better for the horse not to travel for a long time. they literally live next to germany that's why i chose that country to talk about. i'm sorry if i hurt your feelings. if you read my text for the first time it actually sounds quite mean but that really wasn't my point.
@lolamartinezros2894 жыл бұрын
@@fiminio9316 In Germany they chose to hitler mostly, so yeah it's so different to compare, since abuse in Spain is NOT majority, but I understand what you wanted to say lol, so I need to apologize to you, because I was angry at several previous comments and I really feel bad that they believe that of Spain, now that I'm reading it more relaxed I can understand what you wanted to say, and I'm agree with you that most of these horses look....just ....It's hard to look at them without start criying, so well, have a nice day/night, and sorry for being that mean too.

you said before that the way these horses are being ridden and treated is definitely questionable and a lot of times sad to look at, so I don't understand why you'd fly off to Spain again and support what they're doing. I think you might be encouraging others to do the same and that way those people selling the horses won't change anything. If you want to get another horse that's totally your business, I'm not judging you for that but maybe encourage others to be careful when it comes to horses from different countries like Spain to prevent them from buying horses from people who have no idea how to treat an animal. I'm pretty sure that with the amount of people following you, you'd be able to educate quite a lot of us.

The first grey had what looked like (on video) much better tracking up and straight in the trot than some young PREs and his hindquarters were so much more engaged and showing the potential to really come under as the movement was tracking almost to the forelegs ... a huge difference to the early vids of Emporio. He also had height ... you didn't look "big" on him ... I really liked the looser more fluid movement that he had without losing the classic PRE knee action. He seemed to have much more integration and activity with his hindquarters (which typically get left behind in youngsters of this breed) and his walk tracked up too which is fantastic. His top line was great with a nice short back and a well proportioned hindquarter ( slightly taller than the withers for more growth). A lot of young PRE stallions look really forehand "heavy" even excluding their crests and almost runty behind but he was beautifully proportioned with a baroque head and lovely conformation and this really informed his movement. His 'legginess' would give plenty of scope in training for muscular development without sacrificing his lovely action. I know you place fuck all weight on Internet opinions (except ideas for content) but I am good at recognising great movement ... and he looked like he had lots of potential. I would have chosen him over Emporio based on the quality of his movement and height suitability for you. Imagine with great training how this horse would soar. You were incredibly vague about why you didn't like him ... and I guess that you need to respect the owners but it makes watching these really shallow and uninteresting for people like me who watch to learn about the actual horses rather than vignettes of 'Matt and Jesse's quick trip to a few PRE stables in Spain' (although your moments can be fun). More information about what you are looking for and what doesn't meet your criteria would be interesting if you could squeeze it in without compromising individual owners. Your content seems to be more and more targeted at almost adolescent 'horse lovers' ... just judging from the range of comments you get ... you know ... the cult of personality and idols. It obviously works for you and you have found a target demographic that loves all the stuff you do like shopping and cutesy antics. I started watching your channel as I thought I would learn more and add to my equine knowledge and riding experience as an amateur horse owner, training (with professional help) my own beautiful dressage horse and see what life was like for a fellow antipodean living the equestrian dream in Western Europe. However, your content has (d)evolved into being more 'gimmicky' and increasingly out-of-touch and with much less actual horse-centric and riding content. More fluff, I guess, inversely proportional to your rise as an influencer. You have become a 'pop star' of the equine industry and congratulations but, for me, when all you can say when you evaluate a horse is "oh well ... he was cute" ... or not ... is frustrating. You seem to be 'dumbing down' your content which is a shame as I used to really enjoy your humour and slant ... but hey ... they love you and you have a following ... which is cute.

The first stallion was such a different horse with Matt on board and he rode him so well a much better rider than the guy who obviously is training him. When he was taken in to be saddled his hocks looked capped ?

Thanks for sharing your adventures with horse shopping. I appreciate the first horse's calm, yet enthusiastic demeanor. He seemed eager to try and give you what you were looking for. Great video; I really enjoyed the classical guitar musical accompaniment. It enhanced my feeling of being in Spain.

Loving these videos, I find the whole process fascinating ☺️ Couple of questions: Why do the stallions get tied up in their stables with a chain? And what are the breeders using the long whips for when they get the stallions to stand? 🐴🐴🐴
@littleme66934 жыл бұрын
Maybe they got tied up, because they knew Matt was interested, and they wanted the stallion to stay clean until he arrives, at least I hope that's the explanation behind it. And the long whips are to make the horses stand, so that their muscles and body posture is shown at the best ankles possible I think🤔 to me it all looks a bit harsh and not really pro-horse, but that's no surprise and nothing new sadly

Yikes I wouldn't buy a horse off that guy simply due to how awful his saddles fit. I'd imagine those horses have a world of back issues, especially with young developing spines

And the way of riding... I don't know if they ride like in their video presentation on internet (as the short clip before matt rode himself wasn't that bad... In fact matt was worse with the behind the vertical on that clip. I know it's not usual for him. Don't come at me.) but it's also a really damaging way of riding.
