Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. At 5895 metres (19,340 ft), it towers over the savannah of Tanzania, and is the World's tallest free standing mountain. This video documentary is our attempt to climb Kilimanjaro, via the 8 day Lemosho Route. It's going to be a beautiful, scenic, uncomfortable hike and the most difficult week of our lives. We have no experience, and have never climbed a mountain before, but summiting Kilimanjaro and reaching the roof of Africa is our dream and we are going to do everything to summit. What a beautiful Vlog, Matt, and Julia. Why am I crying like a baby? My gosh, the scenery, the experience, the camaraderie and the memories you are making…. Having lived in Africa myself in the late 70s and early 80s (in Egypt and Morocco then for a few months in Tunisia) I always wanted to attempt Kilimanjaro! I’m almost 60 now and that Life dream as well beyond me, but I feel like I’m living a bit vicariously through the two of you.
