It took his dad a few years to develop as well. This is time he should be in college learning and developing. He decided to turn pro, so he's probably working on his game. And then he may not have the same passion for the game as his dad and that's understandable. The circumstances aren't the same.

What’s understandable is knowing he made a stupid mistake by not going to college. Kids don’t know not playing collegiate basketball hinders you from learning the basic disciplines and skill for the game. He literally thought he’d make it just by being d wades son.

Absolutely should’ve went to college, just to see where his game is at against that level and take it from there. He didn’t even have to go to one of the blue bloods, he could’ve went to a smaller school, still had great competition and improve. Now, it’s make or break. He can still go back to school as a student of course but he blew his shot at playing. Bad advice all the way around.
@comment5398

It's different for guys like this because they've been playing against the top-caliber guys. Going to college would have only made his name bigger on a national front if he was really good. If he is really good it doesn't matter where he plays at now because there is so many more options to get into the League than back in the day. Kids born into wealth especially if they've been around guys in the league have experienced this already. He is going to the gym with his dad and Ben playing with guys who have been in the league or other top guys.
@topperlongo

COMMENT Fair enough but averaging less than a bucket in 12 games of inferior to NBA or even Euro standard isn’t exactly a huge calling card. But maybe he’ll improve with all that practice against top caliber talent.

Athletically I’d say he’s close to his dad .. one thing about kids of these players .. they never had to fight in the neighborhoods .. they never had to want and see other kids get .. so the mental ability is no where near the fathers who came from nothing and battled poor life growing up .. and that’s part of the hunger to be successful they don’t have so athleticism can be there but if the mental strength isn’t there they will never be what they could
@dancunningham8371

Not Everybody that makes it came from poverty. Fighting in the neighborhood isn’t what’s necessary. Drive, motivation, determination, grit and a little luck are essential. Sons of professional athletes are EVERYWHERE in pro sports especially the NBA. They surely didn’t come from poverty.And furthermore he may choose another path and become a successful member of society. Now that’s what’s up.

It takes a lot more than trainers and resources, some of the best hoopers come from poverty or slightly below middle class. It’s about hunger and drive, not just genetics and athletic ability. Look at a player like Pat Bev. People clown him cause he not a superstar and will never average 20 points per game and 10 assists but he has work ethic and played overseas to get to the league to the point he never wants to go back where he came from. Zaire and Shareef don’t NEED to play in the league. They’re set for life.

This is obvious, it should put perspective on how hard it is to be a great player in the nba. You can have genetics talent whatever, being an nba star is incredibly rare.

I definitely think shareef would have been in the nba if he didn’t have surgery. What a casual take.

I see it like this, zaire wade isn't as hungry to succeed at a high level like his father. I'm pretty sure for d wade it wasn't just about basketball it was also about getting out of his poor living situation to provide a better quality of life for his family. And so for zaire who's always lived life on easy mode probably figures well I have my dad's money and clout to fall back on if things don't workout.

Not all nba player kids are like that just look at Steph curry u do have a point though, maybe he doesn’t really want it that bad the work ethic drive and determination. Not all of them can handle the pressure and expectations of being the son of a nba hall of famed

As mixed up as that family is, there is no telling what has happened to him and his potential NBA career, may not feel like he could compete with his father's legacy, it has to be hard if your skill level is not quite there.
