Thank you so much for that,I look forward to more. My introduction to Joe was back in the 60s, it was Mishra Blues, it was on the Jazz Explosion sampler album. The solos were amazing, I thought.

Jo stayed with me for two weeks before he died from cancer ?? in Southamton where he had a gig. I was told he had TB of the spine. He never told me but I knew he was ill. Great musician. Played a few gigs with him in Indo Jazz Fusions.

I thought Joe's final recording is with The Nice, their Five Bridges album? I have Synthesis, nice album, very overlooked. Sounds powerful .

Joe Harriot had the first European Free Jazz Band from 1960 to 1962.

Yes, he was different from Ornette Coleman but then no other Free Jazzer in Europe felt so close.

As for Laurie Johnson and his themes, -- Fans of Bernard Herrmann should check out LJ's score for the 1964 film "First Men in the Moon". It sounds (to me at least), so much like, and worthy of, a Herrmann score. Then I found out years later that LJ had studied under him. You can hear the influence.

Jazz In Britain heard a sad story about Tubby’s son. They bumped into him in London he was trying to find all his dads lps. I think he might have had mental health issues and went on to commit suicide later on.
