Yep. First I thought I saw it wrong so went back to check and indeed I saw correctly! Salmom! I laughed and thought “maybe there’s actually a recipe included with this and it’s not an accident and some marketing person that it’d be clever to call the dish Salmom & Rice not realizing it’d get used it the infomercial and the person putting in the type just copied what it said without realizing it. But then those who saw it thought it was a typo and so either didn’t buy it or they got lots of phone calls and letters letting them know about the typo.” And as someone who has worked at two different call centers I can only imagine what that was like! Caller: there’s a typo in your tv ad Operator: okay what is the typo Caller: it says salmom instead of salmon Operator: okay I’ll make a note of it. Would you like to place your order now? Caller: nah, I just wanted to let you know there’s a typo! Lol

These Infomercials were our way of numb social media scrolling. There simply was NOTHING else on TV. This was our way to junk watch. I remember watching it like I would eat a bag of potato chips without ever stopping and checking in with myself if this was actually what I wanted. THERE WAS SIMPLY NOTHING ELSE. Sigh. Good thing is that this means we all shared the same horrific experience. It bonds in a melancholic and painful way. Thank you for being the therapeutical answer to look at it from my adult perspective now.

I had one of these when I was a kid and have clear memories of making myself omelets and the chocolate cakes (I was a latchkey kid). First time I used it I filled the wells to where it was indicated, and it overflowed😂 When I got the hang of how much to actually fill it with the middle of the omelets and cakes were always raw! Like, “Mary Berry you shouldn’t eat that” type of raw. I could never get them to cook all the way through.
