Matthew 12:24-26 Jesus declares that Satan has a kingdom. Continuing on in that passage, the kingdom of heaven is in conflict with Satan's kingdom, and there is no, and can be no, accord between the two. It stands to reason, that as John the Baptist "prepares the way" for the King of the kingdom of heaven, the forces of the Satanic kingdom will be on full assault. From Jesus' pointed remarks in Matthew 12, the Pharisees themselves appear to be foot soldiers on the Satanic side (generation of vipers)
