This is a FALSE TEACHING. Hebrews is not saying Yeshua abolished the sacrifices for sin, it says what he accomplished with his sacrifice, meaning there is no more need to do sacrifices to atone for sin (but there will be done again in remembrance of what he did for us according to the prophets), which does not meant the rest of sacrifices are done away with, as clearly the apostles prove when they sent Paul and others to bring sacrifices to the the temple in Jerusalem many years after the resurrection of Yeshua precisely to prove wrong those accusing Paul of teaching there was no need for keeping the law of Moses now. Astonishing! Isaiah 56:1-8 clearly says that gentiles that come to believe will go on keeping the torah and bringing sacrifices to God during the millennial reign of Yeshua and God will be pleased!!! 14:10 My question is why does it sound like you think it's such an inherently bad thing to question the "traditional" and "orthodox" interpretation? We should always be willing to question and re-evaluate our ways and thinking, and make sure they line up with Scripture. If they don't line up, "orthodox" or not, we should be willing to throw them out in favor of Scripture.

““Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.” ‭Matthew 5:19‬ ‭ Last time I checked the lake of fire would be the least of the kingdom for those who do and teach others not to do the commandments (Jesus words not mine) ““And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who do away with the Law of God that was given to Moses!’” ‭‭Matthew 7:23‬ ‭

What I find interesting is that "whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven" (v. 19), And "whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (v. 19). So, either way, whether we do the commands or not, we will make it into the kingdom of heaven. And who is it that *doesn't* make it in? Jesus tells us in verse 20: "unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." R.

@@TheBiblicalRoots I agree, this is Bema seat language, not in or out language (sheep and goats). Do you believe the least and greatest rewards have to do with intimacy in relation to the King or about rewards like Lambo's vs Honda's? Personally, I believe the bride will be much smaller than Christianity teaches. There also must be a bridal party, guests, servants, etc. correct? And this would align with the parables of wedding guests, 10 virgins, etc. Just curious of your thoughts fleshed out a bit more. I don't think we can point fingers to who is or isn't the bride but rather to characteristics that His bride will possess.

Suppose I was found guilty of speeding and was penalized $100, but a stranger stood up in the court room and told the judge that he would pay my fine. By this act of kindness, was the speeding law just abolished or did he fullfill the law? Correct, the stranger fulfilled the law. In the same way Christ fulfilled the law. That is why there is no longer a sacrifice for sin. The penalty has been paid. But the law still exists. The law says that all capital sins require eternal death. Fortunately for us, Christ stepped up and paid the penalty for us, just as the stranger did in the court room story above. The law still exists. If the law was abolished, then there is no laws to break and therefore no sin. But if sin does exists, then the law also must exist. If sin does not exist, there is no penalty and no payment necessary. If no penalty and no payment, no need for Christ. Referring to the story above, the law requires that speeders be fined $100, when the payment is made, it can be said that the law has been fulfilled. A law was broken, justice was served and the penalty paid. Justice was served, the law served its purpose, therefore the law was fulfilled. The law is very much alive and well today whether people believe it or not. God's law never changes and neither does His word or His laws. In fact His laws are His Word and His Word are His laws. But just because His laws don't change does not mean that something hasn't. What we do has changed to some degree. The biggest change is that a blood sacrifice for sin is no longer required. Also, because the temple does not exist today, many laws cannot be preformed. It has been said that there are only 270 out of the 613 laws that we could actually keep today. Since some laws are for women, some for men, some for priests, some for farmers etc, this leaves relatively few laws that each of us can actually fullfill today. So why are people so worked up about it? I believe it is because Satan hates God, he hates God's Word, he hates mankind and therefore wants us to be disobedient to the Father. Satan wants us to be "lawless" as the Bible says. Being lawless does not refer to being disobedient to our civil laws, it refers to being disobedient to God's laws. What better way for Satan to gain victory than to have God's children disobey Him. Even better, what if Satan could convince Christians to believe that obediance to God's laws was. Actually SIN! Woe unto us all.

So I’m struggling with this passage. And this is the way I see it. Obviously, the temporary nature of the OT sacrifices were fulfilled by Jesus. But does that mean that the law, as in how we live our lives is gone also? Many people say we can ignore the rules as well as the consequences. I see it that the rules still apply but the final sacrifice has already sanctified us. So the need for the sacrifice is gone but we should still live by the law. For example people will say we can now eat pork and shellfish (which I currently do eat). However if we are no longer under the law in that sense, does that mean that we can also sleep with our father wife or our sister?? That certainly doesn’t seem to be the case. The law was never an arbitrary set of rules for the sake of rules. God had reasons for each of the mosaic laws. God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. So I can’t imagine that his reasoning behind the law has changed. The blood of a goat or a bull was NEVER intended to be anything other than a pointer to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. That much I get. But should we not strive to obey the commands behind the law?

Great video! I’m still very confused about verse 19 specifically. Jesus seems to be saying that if anyone teaches not to follow even the tiniest bit of the law, they will be least in his kingdom. Wouldn’t blood sacrifice, for example’s sake, be counted in this? I’m still very fearful of misinterpreting this passage due to his qualifier in verse 19. Because in my head, I have sorted some of the old commandments as “least”, like the food laws and sacrificial stuff. I feel like i’m banging my head against the wall every time I try and listen to a way around this issue but because of verse 19 I can’t seem to make sense of it. Great content as usual. The concept of fulfill vs abolish makes perfect sense and Jesus explicitly stated this. I think that is a key issue with Hebrew Rooters. Would you consider doing a video on the role of works in a Christians life? For example, what is James 2 really teaching? I personally believe James 2 has nothing to do with being justified before God but is an exhortation for already saved Christians to show their faith by works to help others and be "justified by man" rather then God.

Mr. Solberg! When you interpret the phrase "till heaven and earth pass" - you cannot escape the biblical explanation of these words in the context of the whole Scripture. In my opinion, "heaven and earth" in this case means "Jewish religious world". He, according to the words of Jesus, had to disappear soon. And it really happened in 70 AD. And until it disappeared, the law of Moses was actually still in effect, and accordingly, "one jot or one tittle" disappeared from it, until the entire Law was finally abolished in the 70th year.

I came out of Seventh-day Adventism. Their view of this, I believe, is that "the law" being referred to here is "the ceremonial law". Or as my dad, a HR convert, now says, this is referring to the "book of the law" which is all the ordinances and not the law written on stone. Have you done a video that addresses the teachings that there are two aspects to the law in the Torah? The first part being the "law of God" aka the 10 commandments and then the "law of Moses" which encompasses all the rest of it.

What he meant by "fullfilled" is that he completed the requirements of the law. He was able to obey and live them perfectly. This is why anyone who comes to faith and hope in him, we are now seen as righteous because of his deeds. Just as we were seen as sinful and wicked because of Adam's sin, we are seen as righteous and justified because jesus was able to fulfill the requirements of the laws. Question, could this passage be cross-referenced to Luke 24:44 where Jesus states that all things that were written concerning him in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled. This is after the resurrection and he states that these are words he had spoken to them about while he was still with them. Seems like he is re-emphasizing the fact that he has fulfilled all things which I would believe is very important for him to talk about again especially after his resurrection. 45 also states that he opened their understanding so they might comprehend the Scriptures.

The response is usually that God will re establish the temple and levitical preists before we are saved so that beleivers can be cleansed and atoned for using "the propper way of the law" before we enter heaven. Obviously thats insane, and renders christs work as useless even though they dont realise it. Or maybe they do and just dont care. But they pair it with jer 33: 18-21. As justification for mat 5 and then hebrews rather than throwing away the book of hebrews entirely.

Awesome video. Matthew 5:17-20 is crowd control. I had a big revelation regarding the Sermon on the Mount and this section of Matthew just recently. Jesus is preaching in the true authority of God, in the order of Melchizedek, Hebrews 7. Think of the Sermon on the Mount as one sermon not 3 chapters in a bible with topic headers. Why is Matthew 5:17-20 even there and so early in the teaching? Imagine being at the sermon on the mount and the attendees are Jewish only familiar with the Law. He starts out with the what we now call the Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-11 about the poor in spirit, the morning and the meek. This teaching was starkly different from the teaching of the Law. While many of us been familiar with this writing of Matthew our whole lives. Questions start popping up in their minds. What is this teacher the Nazarene teaching? The attendees are starting to get restless. Some might have been elbowing each other, saying get a load of this guy. Some might have even given Jesus the good old side-eye and said, what are you talking about, none of this is in the Torah. This didn’t surprise Jesus, he expected it to come. Then he drops a bomb on them in Matthew 5:13-16 and refers to them, the Jews, as having lost their saltiness. Now he’s insulting us their thinking. They didn’t know it but he was revealing how to get the saltiness. Now the crowd was really agitated. Time to real them back in with Matthew 5:17-19. The Law was still intact at that exact time but it would soon be completed and fulfilled when Jesus utters “it is finished” John 19:30. Matthew 5:17-20 is crowd control, calming the restless so they could hear the truth and pay attention and not be offended.

Why did Jesus say till heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tittle will pass from the law till all is fulfilled? One thing Israel had broken the old covenant with God although he a husband to them. Jesus had to fulfill the law and the prophets to make the old covenant jots and tittles to pass from the law. Only he could. The old covenant jot and tittles was probably the old rituals of the old covenant, so now they are passed since they have been fulfilled. He was saying they wouldn't be abolished till it was fulfilled. Moses is the who destroyed the tables of stone, but not Jesus , he made it pass. That is why he didn't abolish it , but made it pass away. How does it pass by fulfilling it? Once a thing is brought to end, it passes. Jesus brought the law to an end by the atonement on the cross. Jesus said the law and the prophets were until John. In other words it was still intact till Jesus fulfilled all righteousness. The atonement was to remove sin. 🙄

When explained that the Greek for "abolish" means "destroy", it just became much clearer. I.e. if the Law was destroyed, there would be no Covenant & Law to fulfill - mankind would have been left with no hope. Perhaps like a building contract which specifies what must be done to complete a house. Once the house is built to specifications, the contract is fulfilled and archived. If there is no contract, there is no obligation to build it. Also, there is a period after completion when there may be questions on whether everything was done properly. Thus the contract may still need to be checked & audited until every question is settled.

Why did the Apostle Paul partake in a sacrifice when he took the Nazarite Vow to prove he didn’t teach against the Laws of Moses? This was after the death burial and resurrection of Christ. Any input as to why Paul still partook in this since sacrifices where done away with?

Hi Samantha! Paul explains why he did such things in 1 Cor 9: 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. Shalom,. Rob

He kept the law around Jews and lived as a gentile around Gentiles. He says so in his Epistles. He was an apostle but he wasn't perfect. The Holy Spirit told him not to go to Jerusalem and he went anyway. It was during that time that he gave an offering not a sin sacrifice but an offering and also paid for the Nazarite offerings of the other Jews.

Hi Rob - do you think the Levitical priesthood has been set aside for good - or temporary . I'm asking because we see in Ezekiel 44 that God brings back again the Levitical Priesthood and the Torah in the Millenium "But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of my sanctuary when the people of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me. And they shall stand before me to offer me the fat and the blood, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 44:15 How would you reconcile this with Hebrews and the following from Isaiah ? "And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant- these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples." The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, "I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered." Isaiah 56:6‭-‬8 ESV Shalom and God bless

That's a great question, Cornelis. When it comes to end-times prophecies-which are future-state and no one knows quite when or how they will come to fruition-I think we need to interpret them within the context of the current state. In other words, we need to interpret _what will be_ in light of _what is._ So the question becomes: if the book of Hebrews teaches that there has been a change in the priesthood (see below), and the apostle Peter calls Christians "a holy priesthood" (1 Pet 2:5), can Ezekiel 44 really prophesy that there will be (future state) a literal Levitical priesthood in the end times? How do we reconcile those two things? Maybe God will re-institute what He ended at the New Covenant? Maybe Ezekiel 44 isn't a prophecy about the end times? Maybe it's a different kind of priesthood? (Interestingly, the temple Ezekiel describes in this chapter has no high priest.) "11 Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? 12 For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. 13 For the one of whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, from which no one has ever served at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests." Hebrews 7 Blessings, Rob

Paul explains the passage in Galatians 3:16-29. Paul said the Gospel was "added" 430 years "after" the promise made to Abraham "until" the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made. Jesus used the same word "until" in Matthew chapter 5. We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Sion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.

Seems like the key word people are struggling with in a lot of intimidating verses is "τέλειός." I.e. Matthew 5:48 expecting people to be "perfect." But it means complete, whole, mature. You're born a child, you grow through youth, and when you are fully mature, you're in your telios stage. Likewise I'd say in this passage, it's not "ending" the law in either way... He's only pointing out that Israel still had an immature comprehension of the law they were given. See Isaiah 1, God was exhausted with Israel going through the motions while missing the point of what it was they were to learn from those lessons. Jesus pointed out what their immature and incomplete views were lacking. The plan wasn't changed, but steps were taken along that plan where some steps were fulfilled/completed/some goals were met.

So my main question after this teaching is the following. What is the new definition of sin? John tells us in his first epistle that sin is breaking God's law. So if God's law, the Mosaic law, is now done away with, meaning it doesn't have any jurisdiction over us at all, then what is the definition of sin?
@TheBiblicalRoots
@TheBiblicalRoots Жыл бұрын
Hi, Craig! Actually, John tells us that "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is _lawlessness"_ (1 John 3:4). The book of 1 John doesn't discuss the Torah or the Law of Moses anywhere. And this text says that sin is _lawlessness_ (anomia); meaning rebellion, disobedience, living as a law unto ourselves rather than submitting to God (see Deut 9:7, 24; 31:27). For those under the law of Moses, breaking that law was sinful, of course. But sin is much bigger than that! In fact, "sin was in the world _before_ the law was given" (Rom. 5:13, see Gen 4:7; 13:13; 18:20; 39:9). So if we merely define sin as a transgression of the Law of Moses, then Adam and Eve never sinned, because they did not break any of the Mosaic commands. Blessings, Rob

Thanks Rob for that reply! I really appreciate how you take the time to carefully present your arguments and the scriptures that support them. And also for your kindness as well to Hebrew roots folks. I can understand what you said about before the Mosaic law was written sin was present. Adam and Eve did sin because they broke God's commandment not to eat the fruit. And of course Cain sinned when he killed Abel. So I guess my question is this. Is it written anywhere what sin is today? I know it is disobedience to God. I often hear that we are supposed to be led by the Holy Spirit. Is sin today basically what the Holy Spirit tells each one of us it is? Just trying to understand. Thanks brother! God bless.

Hey there. Loved the video. Quick question/ concern though. You made the statement that the old and the new are simply not compatible which of course jump out at me. I mean we blatantly see the apostles keep kosher and sabbath and festivals and went up to the temple for prayer etc. Paul talks about having to celebrate Passover where lambs where continually being sacrificed. So what’s going on here? Im wrestling with this one big time. In your previous videos you talk about how the law is good and if you want to do it fine provided I presume one’s motives are correct and it can be a great way to walk out and live your faith but are by no means required for salvation purposes of which I agree. But than to say it is not compatible at all with a new life of faith is almost looking down on people who honor the law’s instructions as people who have not quit arrived yet or just don’t get it still as if we are trapped in this no man’s land between worlds of faith and obedience. You would think that this new life in Christ would be fully demonstrated by those who knew him best and yet we seem to see people who are filled with a greater spirit filled loving version of Judaism but Jews non the less doing Jewish things as though the are in fact perfectly compatible with the teaching of messiah. As apposed to some new religion entirely. Yes you make some very excellent points but still I’m looking at the practical realities of those early followers who placed a great deal of emphasis on honoring God given laws.

Hi Nathan. You bring up a great point! And when I say that "the old and new are not compatible," the sense in which I mean "compatible" is that of salvation, righteousness, and/or obedience. The example I gave in the video was the sin sacrifices. Under the Mosaic covenant, sin sacrifices were required as a matter of obedience/righteousness. They were commanded of the Israelites by God and, therefore, not doing so was disobedient and sinful. Under the New Covenant, because of the work of Jesus, sin sacrifices are no longer required. Christians are certainly free to celebrate the Torah feasts, eat kosher, keep Saturday sabbath, and so on. But they are no longer a requirement of obedience. There is nothing we could possibly do, no ritual or ceremony, that can add a single thing to the righteousness that is ours through faith in Jesus! Shalom, Rob

You claim to cover Matt 5:17-20, but completely skipped v19. 🤔 I have watched some of your videos and it is clear you lack understanding on the purpose and function of the temple. Heb 10:18 is stating there is no longer a need for the Yom Kippur offering. It is NOT stating there is no need for the Sin Offering or other Offerings. This is why in the millennial kingdom it is the only offering not mentioned occurring. However, Sin Offerings are mentioned multiple times. By taking Heb 10:18 to include ALL Sin Offerings, I imagine Heb 9:22 is difficult for you considering Fine Flour is an acceptable Sin Offering (Lev 5:11). If Sin Offerings are no longer needed, the apostles were completely unaware. Some 20 years post-resurrection, at the very end of Paul’s ministry he not only goes to the temple for completion of his vow (which includes a Sin Offering) [Numbers 6], while among other disciples James tells Paul to pay for the sacrifices of four others for the sole purpose to prove opposite of exactly what you are teaching [Acts 21].

When I first got into Torah everyone said “watch Zach Bauer watch Zach his channel is new to Torah” I watched the guy debate “regular Christians” and was immediately turned off spiritually because of how he acted, that’s when I started to notice, when people want to believe something, they will ignore everything else, it’s like a toxic relationship, we will ignore all red flags. 🚩 i still went on to study more and get more into Torah but after coming out, the people we had grown so close to and were basically family with have cut contact, just like that. Let's just say that the law has continued until this day. That it has not been abolished. Would it be logical to say that what Paul says in Romans 7:1-6, believers have "died" to the old husband, so that we could marry the new husband? In this scenario, since the law will never die, in order to be joined to another, we died and our now free from the binding contract to the law. BTW not saying that we are without a law entirely. Paul then says in Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." So the new law that we are now under is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. With how I read this, whether or not the law is still around is irrelevant. Can you point out any errors that I've made?

"There is no longer an offering for sin." So, if the "follow the law" proponents are to be understood correctly, they seem to be advocating for the killing of animals as a mere tradition and not as a symbolic allusion to Christ's perfect, once-for-all sacrifice, as though that sacrifice hasn't yet been offered once-for-all. That seems really off. The sacrificial system of the OT had a specific purpose, yet once Christ came, the sacrifices took on a significance and purpose they never had originally? That would make no sense at all!

@@moisesg.v.1575 I disagree with your interpretation. I think Paul's motivation for taking on the vow was to not stir up the pot. He became all things to all people. This desire of Paul to "be all things to all people" could not have been accomplished if Paul had not become like a Jew "under the Law" when ministering to Jews with deep convictions about observing the Law of Moses. You can't consciously and accidentally break the commandments of God if they are inscribed on your heart: Jeremiah 31:31. Why the need to refer to the written Law of Moses when the Holy Spirit guides us to follow the Law written on our hearts? The uniqueness of the path to biblical truth is that it resides not in understanding through the intellect but through the Holy Spirit. We all are vulnerable to going off that path when we have biases, prejudices, and presuppositions that take priority over the prodding of the Holy Spirit's voice when it alerts us of our error in understanding the biblical text. I found this commentary on Isiah 55 and 56 very insightful and is exactly how I understood when I read it myself: Isaiah 56.1-8. It addresses the reality that God’s blessing spills over the boundaries assumed by God’s people - the insiders. Reread Isaiah 55 as the segue into this Sunday’s pericope. In particular recall: Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. See, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. See, you shall call nations that you do not know, and nations that do not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you (Isaiah 55:3-5). Note that central to the reestablishment of this everlasting covenant with David2 is that the covenant will spill over to “nations that you do not know.” The covenant with David as the everlasting covenant is transformed from one of safety from enemies toward their welcome (2 Samuel 4:11b). And so this third movement of Isaiah 56-66 begins by exploring the spillage of the everlasting covenant against the backdrop of the religious practice of drawing lines in particular lines that exclude the foreigner and the eunuch. (Yes, the preacher is encouraged to include the whole of Isaiah 56:1-8, as the donut hole created by the lectionary weakens the force of the text.) Note that the strong language used here is not about offering an “olive branch” to the “other.” This is not about some kind of associate membership. To the eunuch who keeps Sabbath, the Lord promises full inclusion, recognition better than that given to a son or daughter, and “an everlasting name which shall not be cut off.” To the foreigners who keep Sabbath, these the Lord will bring into His presence, make them joyful, and accept their offerings. This is not peripheral inclusion. Rather, the Lord invites from the margins to the center of the covenant and to the center of Israel’s cultic life and worship. It is pretty clear in Scripture that eunuchs are not permitted to enter into the assembly of the Lord3 and that foreigners are an abomination.4 Yet the Lord flips this up-side-down. For those who keep Sabbath. That is, for those who live in the everlasting covenant, the house of the Lord is open. Why? “ … for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. Thus says the Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, I will gather others to them besides those already gathered” (Isaiah 56:7b-8). So it is that the Lord’s “steadfast and sure love for David” spills over into the world. The everlasting covenant is not about exclusion. It is about inclusion. Radical inclusion. An inclusion so radical that it reinterprets Scripture. This Isaiah text resonates well with the gospel for today, Matthew 15:10-28, in that Jesus challenges established boundaries that some might consider both “just” and “righteous” (cf. Isaiah 56:1b). Consider rereading John 5 in preparation for preaching Isaiah 56:1-8, especially in relation to this radical inclusion that reinterprets Scripture, in particular keeping Sabbath, the very thing that Isaiah 56:1-8 uses as a common denominator of inclusion. Note that at the outset of the chapter Jesus breaks Sabbath and commands the now-healed fellow to do the same, and then at the end of the chapter he says: “If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you believe what I say?” (John 5:46-67). Lest any of us Christians think that we’ve finally discerned the boundaries of God’s “steadfast, sure love for David” or that we’ve fully discerned Gods justice and righteousness, Jesus calls us to himself and to his cross where any boundary that we Christians might want to construct around God’s steadfast, sure love are shattered.

I think the scripture has been intentionally altered in given passages, depending on the translation history of each text in any language. Some of it is textual word variances that do not change the meaning of the text, and some do change the meaning of the text, either intentional or scribal errors. Like Jesus saying in one of the Gospels - If a man does not hate father , mother , sister, brother, children, he cannot be my disciple. In another Gospel or another translation it says - If a man loves Father, mother, relatives, etc.. more than me , he cannot be my disciple. The bible itself admits and shows man can alter the text. In Deuteronomy and the book of Revelation it says - Do not change my Word. And Revelation it says if any man changes the words of this book, then the plagues that are described in it shall come upon that man.

The best interpretation of scripture is other scripture. Our Torah keeper friends use one verse to hold their own doctrine. And quickly try to say if we don’t believe that verse to mean what they think they think that we are denying Jesus’s words and trying to make us believe only His words matter in light of the whole entire Bible. Jesus is the word and all scripture is inspired by Him. Using one verse to run your whole doctrine is very damaging because instead of finding other verses to support your belief you need prove all other verses that say your wrong and twist them to FIT your beliefs.

What about Mat 5 v19? "Whoever therefore should loose any of the least commandments and May teach others to do so, the same small be called least in the kingdom of Heaven. But he who does them and teaches others to do so, he shall be called great in the kingdom" You make valid points and I'm not downing the way you study, but in the way I've read the gospels, for me it's always pointed to keep the laws of moses (in flesh and now in spirit) and know that there is a sacrafice if you fall. With the major point being; we still strive to be righteous and sinless. We still strive to be in accordance with the word of God and in accordance with the way that Yeshua walked. Because to say that we are free, in the sense that you made it sound, it contradicts the ideas of repentance, baptism, and having a relationship with God. This is a side thought, but what if the promises are what Yeshua talked about? The promise to Moses was the land of milk and honey (a physical kingdom) But when Yeshua came, the promise is now a spiritual one for all who take the walk and Abide by the word of God. And in Matthew 5, Yeshua deliberately makes the examples of now and later. All in all to mean blessed are all of you who bear your suffering now in this life and heed to the word of God, because later, there is a kingdom where we shall all be free from our burdens in the kingdom of Heaven. Sorry I know, long comment 😂

GREAT PRESENTATION!!! These are some thoughts that come to mind as I listen and consider the objective while considering the constitution of Christ. Thus, Jesus was the embodiment of the law so therefore He could not abolish the law. To do so would be the abolishment of Himself. Thus, an eternal God cannot/would not abolish Himself. As Jesus is eternal likewise is the law so to abolish it would have been an impossibility simultaneous with Him being the eternal fulfillment of the law. John 1:1-18; 1 John 1:1-4.

That's an interesting perspective! I suppose it depends on your definition of "the law." Because if we're referring to the "Law of Moses," that law is not eternal; it had a beginning (at Sinia, Ex 19) and an end (Gal 3:24-25). Blessings, RLS

I just recently found your videos and they have been a great help to me in teaching a Bible study on Matthew. I ran into a problem, though. You say that “Law and the Prophets” in v17 and “Law” in v18 both mean the Hebrew scriptures, but when talking about what is not to be abolished in v17 or what is not to have the tiniest part of it changed in v18, you use examples from the Mosaic law about what has changed. I see how “Law and Prophets” in v17 represents the OT, and how Jesus had to fulfill everything they said about him. But it makes more sense that what would “pass away” when all was accomplished would be the Mosaic Law, not the OT. In what sense would the OT pass away? Thanks for your help.

Hi Rick! You make a great distinction here. I would say that neither the Law of Moses nor the OT has "passed away" in the sense of no longer existing or being important. Because they both still play an important role in the life of a Christian. We're just not under the legal obligations of the Mosaic law. Blessings, Rob

RL Solberg is wrong and is making people sin by breaking the commandments of God.

Strawman, of course Matt. 5:17-20 doesn't stand on it's own and no one keeping all of Scripture believes that. In v21 Messiah goes right into the 10 commandments or 2nd great commandment. In the same breath in Ch.7:23, he states that salvation isn't just based in belief. Believers who work lawlessness, he doesn't know them. This is exactly a throw back to Matt. 5:17-20. Those that Don't do and teach others to not keep the law are least, those that do and teach are considered great in the kingdom. Contrasting those that Messiah know and those that are lukewarm, I Don't need a degree to understand that. John in 1 John clearly defines these terms in the first few chapters of his letter, lawlessness, righteousness and fulfillment. You really are stumbling block amd it seems the YT algorithm likes you, too. Edit: double speak alert. You lead people to think all sacrifices are done away with and then reference Hebrews which is speaking of a distinct sacrifice. Not all sacrifices are "sin sacrifices," you intentionally abuse these people with double speak. Paul and Jame (Head of the Jerusalem council and the disciples kept doing Sacrifices at the temple. Acts clearly has James telling Paul to go to the temple to pay for two men's sacrifice. Don't say it was because they were "jews" because that would make Paul a hypocrite because clearly states multiple times there is NO distinction between Jew and Gentile in Messiah.

Thanks, Blue Kashus. I agree that Matt 5:17-20 does not stand on its own. That's a great point! However, I have to disagree with the double-speak alert. First of all, I was specific about the sacrifices I mentioned in this video. In discussing the sense in which Jesus meant "abolish," I said, "Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Mosaic commands in Lev 16 requiring blood sacrifices for sin no longer apply. So in a very real sense, Jesus abolished the sin sacrifices of the Torah." (See 10:50 in this video). Also, regarding the fact that so many Jewish followers of Jesus continued to make sacrifices at the temple, kept Sabbath, and so on. Why wouldn't they? None of those things were forbidden or abolished. As Paul teaches in 1 Cor 9:19-23, the Mosaic traditions are permitted but not required of followers of Jesus. Shalom, RLS

Excellent analogy of the acorn. And I appreciate that you point out that the Greek word in Matthew 5 does not actually mean to abolish, but to utterly destroy. Because we see in Ephesians 2:15, that Jesus did actually abolish, in the judicial sense of the term abolish, "the law of commandments contained in ordinances." So he did abolish the law, but abolish isn't the meaning of the word used in Matthew 5, but rather it means destroy. Thank you for pointing that out!

@@ging1578 Can't find "dogma" in that passage in Acts. And the mere fact that the same word appears in those passages doesn't force the same meaning on each usage. Contextually, the term in Ephesians 2 is used with reference to the act of circumcision being one of the dividing factors between Jew and gentile. Thus, the law being abolished refers to circumcision, which was codified in the Law of Moses, and its abolition means the removal of the dividing factors. There is no contextual requirement to consider "dogma" necessarily a reference to unbiblical traditions of the Pharisees in Ephesians 2. To the contrary, the context points to the law of Moses proper. And since the word mistranslated as "abolish" in Matt. 5 actually means "destroy," there is no conflict in saying that even though Jesus didn't come to destroy the Law, He did come to complete it and abolish it.

Thanks, Tyler! Here's what the Holman New Testament Commentary says about that passage, "In his first concluding warning-the “two ways”-Jesus talked about the rigors of true discipleship. The narrow gate is the way of personal faith in Christ. This is precisely what the Pharisees missed so badly (Matt. 5:20). The Pharisees used the wide … gate, which is the normal human tendency toward dependence on self-righteousness. The number of people who would, historically, find the narrow way has by now mounted into the millions, if not billions. But Jesus’ few is a relative term. The true servant of the kingdom will always be in the minority." Rob

The disciples came back to the holy city where their master was killed. Why would they do that? Because if you put away the least and take away one jot or one Tidel from the Torah, he will be the least in the kingdom of heaven. So when the disciples came back to observe Pentecost. So may i ask if you are so concerned that we understand scripture wrong , ( that is regarding how God wants us to live our lives ) - why do you not make a video on recommendations how you see believers , should live their lives as believers ? Follow RCC doctrine ? , which are based on the outcome of the council of Trent - which concluded Tradition is Greater than Scripture ? Hence the presence of Idolatry in this " Christian " church . The Queen of heaven , Sunday worship , Easter and many other forms of worship , which is contrary to scripture - followed by the largest " Christian " denomination in our world . Give us your recommenation as you believe a believer then has to live our lives - but please do not then include the phrase - but the law is Holy and Perfect , as you mention some time . When i study scripture from beginning to end - those who have followed God's instructions had been blessed - even those of the coming Millenium - when all will learn the Torah - and there will be peace on earth - as never before . Let us lastly look how God saw Abraham ; I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws." Matthew 5:17-18 has nothing to do with the Torah, meaning law of Moses or Old Testament, the law mentioned here is about the law of God, the Ten Commandments in stone, two proofs are listed here #1 the law and the prophets always refer unto the Ten Commandments in stone, #2 this law mentioned in :18 had an expiry date that revealed it would only last until he fulfills it. This expiry date is revealed in Luke 16:16 this law of God would expire by the time of John the Baptist. This is why the Lord Jesus in Matthew 5:28-29 teach the magnification of the law of God and not the letter that kills, meaning the Ten Commandments in stone. You cannot refer unto the Torah from Matthew 5:17--18 when it is not about the Old Testament, so why is it wrong as in this teachers message, the bible teaches that the Old Testament would be destroyed, slain, broken down and nailed to the cross. Ephesians 2:14-16 and Colossians 2:14-15 Therefore; the Old Testament did not expire by the time of John the Baptist when the Lord Jesus would fulfill this law, as in Matthew 5:17-18 and Luke 16:16 But the Law of God did expire, meaning the Ten Commandments in stone.

This video resolves the "issue" of the law by suggesting the "law of Moses" is like an acorn that needs to die and be reborn into the new life. That analogy is already used in the Bible as meaning that we die to self in the same way as Christ who died for us. It is not the "law of Moses" because he only received it. He did not originate it. It was given by Christ. The Ten Commandments, the statutes and the ceremonial law may not be treated the same way. The ceremonial law like it says in Galatians 2 and 3, were a shadow of things to come. The statutes were a practical civil law based on the commandments. But you cannot cast away the Ten Commandments so easily. No one is saved by keeping them. However you may be lost by breaking them without repentance and conversion. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Our justification is by faith and our sanctification is by faith and there is nothing one can do to earn salvation, not by works lest one boast. But "faith without works is dead" which is why you won't be able to murder or adulter your way to heaven. Not even a little lust is accepted by the fair Lord Jesus. Not even hate is overlooked. It is severely misguided to think that repentance does not include conversation to obedience. The Bible already defines what of the law must be kept "in order to be saved", as "necessary". To resolve the "issue" is to correctly understand "fulfill", which is to obey. Acts 15 is exactly discussing this subject, "do I need to keep the law in order to be saved"? The answer from the Holy Spirit in Acts 15 to the apostles is this: No idolatry (Ten Commandments) No sexual immorality (Ten Commandments, Leviticus 18) Food laws (Leviticus 17, and by extension 11) The reason most Christians ignore this teaching is they are unwilling to obey God. They teach these are "Mosaic" or "Jewish" laws, never to be applied to the modern man. They are considered old and archaic, they are like the seed before the flower, because Jesus fulfilled the law for us and we have no concern with the things on the law. But are they useless antiquities cast aside by the Messiah? 'No, no, those old and decrepit laws were for them back then, and definitely not for me now! Heresy, heresy those men who teach we should keep the law! No, no you are free from the law, free!' And they misuse Galatians and Romans to support the lawless doctrine of men. The Sabbath, 4000 yes ago created for all mankind by the Lord of the Sabbath, Jesus, is now trampled underfoot by God's people! The unclean animals were directed by angels to enter the ark 4 of each, while the clean animals entered 14 of each. That was around 1000 years before Moses, hundreds of years before any Jew walked the earth. No, the bacon between the teeth is more important than what God said, and indulged by the Christian for Sunday brunch. Will they not heed the words of the humble and meek lawgiver? John 14:14-15 (KJV) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. If you did not know any better, there is forgiveness. But if you say you know better and willfully break the commandment of the Lord, then you deny him each time. What will come of that?

And why does Rob tell us otherwise!?? Israel tried many times and many different ways to please God. When they did it His way they prospered, not so much when they tried their own way. He spent 40 years in the desert teaching the His ways but the older generation died because they wanted to do things their own way. Fast forward to 325 AD & we have council of nicea where they changed Gods ways. Reference (Dan7:25) In these years, the changes that were made in 325 AD are still being practiced. These ways are """not""" what Jesus taught. For example the sabbath wasn't a Jewish day it is a Godly day! Yet Christian's say no way, we want to worship on a day we like! Or If you walk out any part of the law you're being legalistic. Yet all the apostles did it. Unfortunately they miss the fact that Jesus taught the law of Moses! He echoed the prophets as well. So just like Israel, Christians today want to worship Him their way. Don't let your hearts be anxious for the ways of God.....instead embrace the ways of God!

We don't accept Hebrews as canon, and for good reasons. It contradicts Jeremiah 33:17-22 and Ezekiel 40-40 as well as Zechariah 14. Only the Church of Alexandria accepted Hebrews until the 4th century. So all the western Christians who rejected it are heretics now? The heretics are those who added it to the canon, Jerome and Augustine. Hebrews was accepted on the argument that Paul wrote it, and then it was proved that Paul didn't write it, and the goal post was moved. It is now accepted because the tradition accepted it. The restoration of a future Temple is a solid teaching of the Prophets. They will judge the book of Hebrews. At least we agree the book of Hebrews cannot be reinterpreted the way 119 ministries tries to. No argument there. Your argument against sacrifices indicates a profound misunderstanding the the meaning of "atonement." Rom. 10:4, Messiah is the end of the norm for righteousness for everyone holding faithful. That's because the cleansing power of his life elevates the faithful above the norm. You did not discuss Matthew 5:19. That one verse contradicts your interpretation.

Hey TT! So in Romans 10:4, Paul says Jesus is the end/goal (τέλος) of the νόμος, which in Greek only means "law." When Paul wants to talk about a _norm_ or _standard,_ he uses τύπος (Rom. 6:17), or μέτρον (Rom. 12:3; Eph. 4:7). BTW I don't blame you for trying to eject Hebrews from Scripture. It's impossible to reconcile a "Torah-observant" lifestyle with that book! But if we only accept the books of the Bible that we agree with, then it's not the Bible we believe but ourselves. @Defending the Biblical Roots of Christianity You stated, "νόμος... in Greek only means "law."" See the definition in BDAG, 3rd edition (A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, 3rd Edition). You will see that definition #1 in the top Lexicon says it means "custom" or a "norm." I also suggest you read the note in the Lexicon immediately preceding. It is circular reasoning to suppose that rejecting a book is rejecting the Scripture when the book is not Scripture. If I were a Roman Catholic, I would ask you why you reject 6 of the books in Augustine's Canon. (Granted, I assume here that you only hold to the shorter Protestant canon, but its a reasonable assumption after listening to you for a while.) Is that because you only accept books of the Bible that you agree with? Anyway, back on Rom. 10:4. Messiah is the end of the norm for justice to everyone holding faithful. The norm of justice is that the sinner will die. But in Messiah we have forgiveness. So the norm is ended. And forgiveness is the good news.

@@TheBiblicalRootsThey’re really helping me. I keep seeing HRM comments on KZbin and appreciate your biblical rebuttals to help me know how to respond when necessary. Your videos also serve to keep us from veering away from the truth. Thank you so very much!
