Thank You! I am not a complete beginner but still early enough in learning to make good use of this theory/technique.

I greatly appreciate all the videos you put out, Siccas. These kind of videos in particular are very interesting to watch. I was just wondering whether it would be possible to not only know what guitar is being played but also what the strings are that are being used. Just a thought, could be interesting to know. Thanks!

Wish I had seen this when I was starting out! I started classical shortly before my first college audition and I did Villa-Lobos prelude 4, but the only recording I had heard was the video of Bream doing it in the 50's (with that crazy vibrato). The professor said "Yeah... we don't do that anymore." Thanks Matthew! Vibrato is too often ignored by guitarists when compared to other instruments. I would definitely suggest looking into how wind and bowed instrument players approach vibrato as well. Cellist David Finckel has some great tips.

Nice bits of insight. I recall a masterclass by Sharon Isbin where she talks about a technique for really powerful vibrato using two or even three fingers on the one string for maximum effect. I use it for the high e on this piece and it really makes the note sing. Anyway, top lesson, and how much would that Hauser set me back? New mortgage?

Dear instrumentalists, please stop talking about vibrato on the voice like it's something we spend hours practising to perfect. Most classical singer don't put on a vibrato cos it sounds silly. Vibrato happens to your voice. Which is why older singers tend to have an extreme vibrato which is uncontrollable. Very informative video otherwise.
