On a grade of 1 to 10 I'd say that kiln is a 11 ! You're "drip down" is epic especially on that copper red bottle. Lots of beautiful stuff out of that kiln. Congrats !!!!

I liked this vid, all of it, every part of it from the moments that were sped up and the moments that weren't. Making the perfect vid so we could see the individual pieces and not have to endure repitition through the multiples pieces. Viewing each piece was like opening a present. I know. I didn't make them. So how could I feel so connected to them? Something similar to you, their creator? I don't know. But I do. Loved seeing most of the creation of these pieces from the beginning to the end. Thanks.

@@MatthewKellyPottery no problem I love your techniques great Channel just fantastic. They always called me a prodigy when I was a young kid in Junior College throwing and I waited 30 years to get back into it and it came back to me in just a few hours. I'm able to pull up a pound of clay about 12in probably within the first three days not bragging well maybe I'm bragging LOL I've just been so beat down by a medical condition that I have to have something to be proud off LOL

Matthew, I love your videos and look forward to many many more. What is that creamy brown clay you’re using? Looks as if it has no grog? I love that you experiment….without experiment there is no greater beauty! Thanks very much!

Everything is beautiful. Have you every glazed any pieces in a way and then fired the pieces upside down?? I’m curious how the glaze would run and dip especially on pieces with roundness And or curves. Might be a great couple of videos for you to do.
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
I have not fired any upside down yet. I’ll consider that. Thanks.

Nice work! Looks like you really have your glaze process down. Can you do a video about your firing process and method? I’m looking to get a gas kiln going. Just looking for more individual flavors of firing with gas. Do you use an oxygen probe. What type of burners. Up or down draft and why. Firing schedule etc...? Thanks for all the Videos! Are you in the seagrove area?
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
I am in Seagrove. I’ll definitely consider doing a video on the firing process. Thanks for the questions.

Hi, I just found your channel and have been enjoying you videos. Do you use bottle glazed for your red and white glazes or do you use your own recipe?

Hey Matthew, How do you finish the edges of your stamps? ( stars & states ) Do you stamp them out one at a time? Was the glass, grounds or just small pieces? Thanks from Florida, Dan
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
I let the ornaments dry and then run a needle tool around the edge. I used to sponge them. Either one works. The glass I buy in sheets from hobby lobby and then cut into little squares.

Did you say 012 or cone 12
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
Cone 012 is the first cone when I start reduction.
@ksagame92895 жыл бұрын
what are cone packs?
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
Those are pyrometric cones that melt at specific temperatures so we know when the kiln is finished.

I’ll have to measure when I get home but roughly 32” deep, 40” wide and 48” tall

Okay on the red vase you said you spray purple so I don't think you are doing what I think you were doing if that makes sense. You can get that exact same effect with the purple ish if you use 100% Alberta slip and makes about 5% rutile in that's it and if anybody wants to try this at cone 6 Electric simply add 20% Ferro frit 3134 a little milk just perfectly at cone 6 and you'll get a bluish purple haze that is just awesome couldn't be easier
@MatthewKellyPottery5 жыл бұрын
thanks for the tip, I may give that a try eventually. Cheers

@@MatthewKellyPottery I try probably 7% at cone 10 to match or at least mimic what you get from your spray. I just love your Channel no gimmicks just good tips. I think I'm going to build I'm outside cone 10 kill I really don't know what kind of gas I need to use to get the cone 10 I imagine even propane would do that? Or natural gas? A paragraph I'm extremely sick I don't work anymore so when I say I build memes I'm I will Design and have someone else build a big killing for me. Hopefully I will get better than I am now I am no longer considered terminal I kind of be an unbeatable condition. Any tips you can give me a good plans or directions would be a big help.
