I hadn’t seen someone make a lid by going all the way to the wheel head and then lifting from the middle like that, I’m going to try it, thank you! One of my pottery teachers told me the two sided calipers…one side measures inside of opening and one side measures outside of opening.

Not seen a lid made like this before, I've always thrown a bowl with a fat foot to enable to make the handle in trimming, certainly this a go next time iIneed a lid, thanks for the tip

Very cool Matthew. That's the first time I've seen the dome lid thrown that way. Most people throw it upside down and trim a knob. I'll have to try this! You make it look so easy. 😃

Thanks for sharing!!! I am a newbie and learned so much. One comment about the calipers though...is one side not the inside diameter and the other side the outside diameter, the reason why they measure differently???

Great video! It would be cool to have a video of you setting them up with wadding to fire.

That is a good idea. The biggest trouble is that when we start loading the kiln I have so much going on I can’t usually think about recording videos. I’ll keep it in mind though.

Do you have to use special clay for a casserole dish?
