It's a great idea to have battery banks and/or generators in place just in case. It's fantastic how neighbors were helping each other.

I feel so bad for those that have experienced extensive damage to their homes

Kitsap County got hit pretty hard in places. What was surprising was how some areas experienced high winds with lots of damage, while just down the road there was no damage and not much wind. Cleanup has been ongoing and some roads are still impassable. Thanks to all the paid and volunteer crews out there restoring power and TV lines and clearing roads. Several people reported damage to homes and outbuildings, but no fatalities thankfully. Thanks too for the meteorologists reporting so we could prepare ahead of time.

Can we stop camping out in front of the people's house in Bridle Falls? Leave them alone for goodness's sake. I saw it on the national news. Yeah, maybe now is not the time to bother the family.

Maple Valley. Many places trees down keeping people from access to jobs or fuel.

I dont understand why people are surprised when a tree falls on a house.its a no brainer.dont have tall trees near your house so when the wind blows and it will .your house does not get hit.people trust trees way too much.😎

And they're mandated 100% electric vehicles by 2030? Think it through voters.

It'll never happen, too much money in oil
@ricardoconqueso3 сағат бұрын
No one's making any mandate like that. There's been discussion of NEW vehicles being electric, but no one is trying to ban or outlaw ICE engines. This is just more right-wing tin-foil fear-mongering. "Liberals are coming for your gas stoves!!!!". lol.

2035 and it's not 100%. You do realize gas powered cars run out of gas, right?
@30smsuperstrat2 сағат бұрын
@andrewosborn1451 there are many gas stations open because they're located in high priority areas that don't lose power. There are not nearly enough public chargers with power to charge all the cars without power at home. The infrastructure is horrible in Washington.

FYI TREES FALL!!
@elw615011 минут бұрын
Since the state and county OWN all of the land, they should be responsible for tree management!!! It's too damn expensive to hire tree removal. Stop paying property tax and see how fast you get gone!

Most of the damage was caused by labeling the storm 'bomb cyclone"
@ricardoconqueso3 сағат бұрын
It's better than the technical, meteorological terms of "Explosive cyclogenesis." A bomb Cyclone is the rapid deepening of an extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area. The change in pressure needed to classify something as explosive cyclogenesis is latitude-dependent. For example, at 60° latitude, explosive cyclogenesis occurs if the central pressure decreases by 24 millibars (0.71 inHg) or more in 24 hours. This is a predominantly maritime winter event but also occurs in continental settings. This process is the extratropical equivalent of the tropical rapid deepening. Although their cyclogenesis is entirely different from that of tropical cyclones, bomb cyclones can produce winds of 74 to 95 mph (120 to 155 km/h), the same order as the first categories of the Saffir-Simpson scale, and yield heavy precipitation. Even though only a minority of bomb cyclones become this strong, some weaker ones can also cause significant damage. It was accurately named...
