Yes, this for sure if you're into music. In addition plug in your (quality) headphones through the headphone jack as well to enjoy on your own. Note that DAC is on the headphone jack and not also on the USB-C port as my Razer phone2 was (no headphone jack on Razer2). Just compared specs of LG G8 ThinQ to the current/new Pixel 5A as LG had announced it's exiting the marketplace and it's still on Android 10 as of September 2021 and it compares more favorably than the Pixel other than the battery size and length of support. I loaded up Nova Prime Launcher for more customization and life is good (for now).

I've had mine over 2 years now and I love alot about it. The red color makes it the most beautiful phone I've ever owned. But the speaker quality to me sucks. My G6 sounds much better. I hate the speakers for videos and music yet for calls I think the phone sounds better than any I've ever used. My battery has never been an issue. Once I heard LG was killing the G series I knew I was done though. I want to get the oneplus 9 pro in green and try to keep with a phone I don't see often. Like I've never met anyone with a G8. One other thing I hate is that I can take AMAZING video on this phone and amazing photos and when I send them to people with iphones they get pure shit. And vice versa. It really sucks. You would think apple and android would come up with a solution to that in 2021.

I'm not sure where I'm gonna go in the future since LG is out of the phone game, probably "a" series Pixel or decent budget Moto or Nokia phone, or maybe A series Samsung. I definitely can't justify 1500 bucks for an iphone pro max just to browse social media and take the occasional pic. I loved getting slightly older LG flagships for a massive discount, felt like I was getting a "one up" on the disposable consumerism planned obsolescence that's society these days.

So the G8 is basically better, especially when the price is considered, how nice from LG. The only thing I don't like is the notch. I wish they would have carried on with the G4 design that was so iconic and the best handling experience.

My renewed G8 is great. My only gripe is that the battery isn't as optimized as Google's Pixel 4a phones... I'm just used to the convenience of going 60 hrs of use until I need to recharge on my Moto G7 Power.

You are right but about the 5G thing,I wouldn't go happily crazy because it's very limited to thier region and won't support most areas which bring me back to the point of : G8 vs V50 😳

@@cod4787 in that case performance wise they are both similar but the v50 got a bigger screen and battery to compensate for that.. Also there's the additional telephoto camera on the back and wide angle on the front.. You also lose out on the Apple level of secure face unlock with the v50.. If you don't care about that stuff then buy the g8 since its cheaper anyway

The V50 is just the powerhouse of the three with a 1440p resolution and the bigger screen size and the best of the best and you can use the dual screen accessories. The g8x is a little cheaper and has the dual screen too but still it's a close fight.

It IS the audiophile phone!!!! Connect it via the headphone jack to your stereo. It's not the sound coming from the actual phone speakers...it is what it produces when it is hardwired connected to headphones or your stereo amp/receiver!

Nice review. Had the LG G8 for a year and a half now. I love Android, but I've never really been impressed with the G8's camera. Seems my wife's iPhone 11 gets way better pictures than I can ever get. I'll miss some of the features (expandable storage, USB C port), but I'm switching over to the iPhone 12 Pro.

It's because lg expects you to learn how to do manual controls. I always outshoot my friends iphone 11s cause I have that control. Maybe keep your lens clean, and put her to on instead of auto?

I'm in the real estate business and I love the photos the LG G8 takes. Go through your settings! I only take single shots of houses. I have watched comparison videos with the LG G8 vs the iPhone and I have seen the iPhone blow the LG away. Depends on what you are into!
