Another cracking video Matt, thanks alot. My only change that ive made is to the gamma assist button. Like you said, gamma assist is just to saturated for me and looks awful. Instead ive changed this to picture profile select. I notice that when you turn off the picture profile on the camera it automatically reverts to the creative style you have selected. I set my creative style to standard with some added contrast and saturation and some extra sharpness. I find this way more customizable then the gamma assist option. So now i just press the button to bring up the picture profile select, scroll over twice from PP8 to OFF and it jumps then to my creative style. Then just to the reverse to get back to Matt Flat. Its the same amount of button presses, but its more controllable.

Hello Matt, your videos have helped me quite a bit. I have one big question that I cant seem to find ANYONE who has answered or thought of... The custom keys are awesome. The custom menu is awesome. -Can you program a custom key to bring up your custom menu? The custom keys are there to save you from having to go into the menu so wouldnt it make sense to have a key that pulls up your favorites? Please let me know if you might know the answer. Thanks for all the videos!

Hey Matt! Wouldn't it be cool to be able to adjust also how your custom buttons behave depending on what memory you're recalling. Say I have M2 setup for stills photos shooting. In that scenario I'd love to have my custom buttons setup be different (e.g no need for steadyshot focal length or gamma assist) I'm assuming this is not possible but wouldn't it be amazing?

I believe that these settings transfer depending on your Memory if it is set to 1 or 2, so you should be able to do this.

Hey Matt, Have you ever had a problem with the SONY AS7II turning itself off? I'm not sure if it's the adapter, fault with the camera or what really, it's happened a few times now. It's not the battery by the way.

Hi Matt, a great video, as always! Q: Do you know if it's possible to "zoom out" when viewing images/video you've taken in view mode to see all the clips on a grid? Coming from a Canon I liked when reviewing shots/footage, being able to "zoom out" and view everything as a tiny thumbnail, which made it easier to find and review specific clips. On the A7Sii, as far as I can tell, you can see viewer settings by clicking on the clip and going to control panel to control that specific clip, or clicking up (Disp) on the wheel to give you an overview of the file (although it seems on videos do not display any info), but I can't find a way to view a grid of thumbnails. Tried Googling and couldn't find a solution - any thoughts?
@whoismatt8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Hit the play button on the back of the camera to bring up videos you have shot. Then hit menu. Go to "View Mode". Select "Date View". This should bring up a calendar. The current date should have a little play button with a video clip in it. Select the current date. There's your preview thumbnails in a grid patter. :)
@GrandGeneralKukov8 жыл бұрын
Ah-maze-ing! Thanks a lot, Matt! I've been looking for that for months and was starting to think Sony didn't put a grid view on there. Google search didn't point it out either. Very helpful, thanks, Sony A7Sii master!

Matt question what will be your go to lens with say Run & Gun setting? I personally like to stay with Sony 16 - 35 for the ultra wide however, most often switching to 24-70 GM for variety of reasons. Which lens you will consider a must for typical Run & Gun Weddings?
@whoismatt7 жыл бұрын
For me I stick to prime lenses, usually a 24mm and 50mm. But if I had to pick one zoom lens i would probably go with the 24-70.

Do you keep both of this off : AEL w/shutter - OFF ; AF w/shutter - OFF ? For example, a situation, the bride is walking along an alley, and you are walking all the way backwards, but the a7s2 will keep hunting the focus point, even after you select the bride at the 1st second. I dont think, the a7s2 locks the focus after the half click and doesnt track the object right until we stop ? So, may be the solution would be, keep AEL w/shutter - OFF ; AF w/shutter - OFF Then manually focus the bride's face, and then start walking, so that until you stop walking, the focus is always on the bride's face only, since AF-C is enabled. Will this workaround work ?
@whoismatt8 жыл бұрын
I would use the Face Detect autofocus, which should keep it focused on their face. Otherwise I would use manual focus and stay the same distance away so they stay in focus.
@whoismatt7 жыл бұрын
That's worth a shot. :) I usually use Face detection.

Hey Matt! I love watching your videos. I have a question. Is setting the white balance when shooting better than just adjusting it in post? Does it just save time in editing or does it make the quality of the video better overall?
@whoismatt7 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew! Because the A7Sii doesn't record video in raw it is VERY important that you set your white balance in camera when shooting, otherwise your shots color can be way off and impossible to fix.

Hey Matt, I really like your tutorials and i'm a huge fan of yours. I am a 14 y/o filmmaker from switzerland and will soonly upgrade from my Canon 60D. Thank you Matt i love you and have a great day. Greetings Pascal Frei
