Alot was expected from him and maybe the migraine was exasperated by the fact that it looked bad. Wow! What a crazy first day! As gutted as I'm sure Matt feels about having to leave, he's definitely doing the right thing. Migraines are no joke, and could completely render a person from functioning normally, let alone in a highly demanding enduro race. Jono and Ben both killed it with some quite impressive riding, pro and novice respectfully. Looking forward to see their progressions in the next couple of days, and the interesting content they'll provide during Matt's absence. Let's all hope Matt is okay and send him some positive vibes. Jono along with those other enduro riders are absolute beasts! How you wing tracks like that all day especially when your getting physically and mentally tired is beyond me. Props to Ben too, completely out of his comfort zone but giving it a go anyway. Hope it's nothing to serious with the head Matt. 100 per cent right flying home to get it checked out. I am really glad you stopped riding and had yourself checked out when you did not feel well, Matt. There is this pressure on athletes to just keep pushing even if they really do not feel well. Good call, Matt! I had a concussion three years ago, didn't go to hospital, just tamed down my activity for a few weeks (e.g. just doing these things in gymnastics that don't get hits, ride more forest roads instead of trails...) and i still can feel it when i slept bad. Mostly in situations with bright sun out and driving out of a tunnel by car (there are one or two here in Switzerland) where my brain really struggles to adjust for a few seconds. So, better treat head injuries properly and avoid things like this down the line...
