This is why KZbin is so valuable. We NEVER get to see concerts like these!! EVER!!! Think of how many concerts you have taken for granted on KZbin. It's really mindboggling. I only got to see Irene Cara at halftime shows for some sports show or some telethon. I never got to see her show live. Hell, as a kid, I didn't even know she did shows like these. ❤‍🔥

To what computerized voices are you referring? Because from what I've heard thus far, Chloe & Hallie, H.E.R., Esperanza Spaulding, Arianna Grande (of whom am I not a fan), Beyoncé, Tannerélle, Janelle Monae, Miley Cyrus, Lauryn Hill, T Pain, D'Angelo, Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak are all really great singers, whethere you like their music or not. What the h@ll are you taking about?

Thank you for uploading this piece of gem. Irene passed away a few days ago. I am so sad. Most of us only knew Flashdance What A Feeling and Fame. She had so much more to offer. She showed her qualities in the Marvin Gaye medley alone. It's such a shame that somehow she never found more good songwriters and producers to write more songs for her. She truly deserved it. She lives on in her music. She is unforgettable. Thank you, Irene, for the music and all the joy you brought. R.I.P. Irene Cara Escalera

I agree... I remember her in Electric Company children series years ago (in the 70s on PBS) far from before Fame, Flashdance, D.C. Cab, Certain Fury, Roots: The Next Generation, & etc. You see, she was already famous before Hollywood really noticed her for real. But, she will always be part of my/our generation because we will forever remember her name. 😥🙏🏾🎤✌🏾

She was a talented songwriter in her own right & it’s tragic she was I guess blackballed from the industry. I remember her from her Electric Company days & really fell in love with her voice in the “original” movie Sparkle! Not only a talented singer but just as talented of an actress…It’s so sad to hear she lived the last years a recluse. Rest in heaven Irene Cara you spirit will Sparkle ✨ always ❤

Many many years ago, while taking acting classes in NYC, I used to run into Irene in the lobby. This was right before she did Fame and hit it big. She used to encourage me to move to NYC and do the acting thing full time, but it wasn't possible, and I really preferred Los Angeles over NYC. The first time I remember seeing her was on the children’s TV show The Electric Company, and we had some laughs about that. She was wonderful and even though I never saw her again in person, she always remained in my heart. I remember sitting at Carney's in Los Angeles on Sunset Blvd and seeing the big billboard promoting Fame and was SO happy that this talented lady had made her mark in Hollywood. Also, when she opened the Academy Awards, I was blown away and SO proud of her.

It's definitely bittersweet though, knowing that while American artists tour overseas all of the time to give those fans an opportunity to see and hear them live Irene was in a situation at that time where she literally had no choice in the matter. And she poured all of herself into that show because they deserved no less than her best. Irene Cara is in my mind the definition and the epitome of unsung, it makes me smile seeing the outpouring of love, appreciation and respect that she is receiving and I pray that Irene's family and loved ones are uplifted by these words. Wonderful wonderful concert I mean Tara in Tokyo Japan in 1985. Very energetic as I've always known her to be as an artist, and I'm so very glad I had the opportunity of watching this particular concert. Irene Cara such a beautiful artist, you will never ever be forgotten in your name will always be remembered.
