Especially when we would climb mount- pleasant, which is the highest point on the island and climb up the light tower. In the month of October migratory birds would come down from the north and the island would be adorned with a lot of beautiful bird species.

Thank you Matt for such an awesome video. I appreciate all the detailed step by step explanation of your adventure in Corn Island. I've been wanting to visit the island but I haven't had the opportunity to do it. How are people dealing with Covid there? Is it safe to drink the local water there? I remember that I got sick in Cancun just by eating a fresh salad there. I was told not to eat anything that is touch by their local water unless is bottled water. Thank you again for showing us a video of this wonderful place. I'm hoping to start traveling as soon as it's safe to travel to other countries (when Covid is under control). Btw, did you notice a difference in the cost of food when you paid with US dollars vs. Córdoba? Is US dollar accepted by everyone in the island?
@MattKramerTravels3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! From what I was told, it’s not recommended to drink the tap water. Most places accept US dollar, though the Cordoba is more widely used, and i didn’t notice a price difference between the two currencies. I hope you get the chance to visit one day!

Hi Matt! My husband and I are planning a trip to Nicaragua in the beginning of July. After seeing your video, Big Corn Island is a must. Can you please advise on the best way to get to the Island from the mainland, where to rent a motorbike for two, do we need our own snorkeling equipment, etc. Thank you!!!
@MattKramerTravels2 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to hear that you will go to the Corn Islands! The easiest way is to fly from Managua, otherwise I think you can take a boat from Bluefields. There are places to rent snorkel gear on the island, but it's always nice to have your own as there are so many places to snorkel. There are a few places to rent motorbikes on the island, so I would ask your accommodation when you arrive.

Hello Matt. Beautiful Big Corn Island I haven't heard of. I have questions: how much does the flight cost and how long does it take? How much is the accommodation? How much did you pay for the "Rundow" dish, it looks delicious? Is fuel expensive and what is the cost of renting a scooter? And the last question :) Why don't you wear a helmet? Sorry, it might be worth going there, but what are the prices? You don't say much about it in this vlog. Greetings .
@MattKramerTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hello. You can take a flight from Managua on La Costena Airlines which costs ~$150 USD roundtrip or you can take busses to Bluefields Nicaragua and then a boat, which would be cheaper. Accommodation ranges from ~$15-$100+USD per night depending on where you stay. I cannot remember the cost of fuel and I had a friend who let me rent a scooter. The rundown dish was ~$8 USD. I wish I had a helmet but i unfortunately couldn't find one on the island. It's definitely worth the trip to the Corn Islands!
